Question of the Day: What federal election issue matters most to you?

Emily PrattRebel Correspondent

As Canadian parties shift into full election campaign mode, I hit the streets to ask what issue matters to people most.

Voters are all over the map in terms of priorities.

Are you surprised by these answers? Tell me in the comments!

or no consideration.
commented 2015-06-21 23:47:23 -0400
Okay, Thank-you Jimmy for your consideration.

Where do you think money comes from?

Do you believe in the finite pie?

How do you think the social safety net we are so proud of as Canadians, gets paid for? I have another question after you answer this one( multiple related questions) If you don;t mind.
commented 2015-06-21 23:35:02 -0400

Go for it.
commented 2015-06-21 22:00:59 -0400
Could I ask you a question Jimmy?
commented 2015-06-21 21:28:41 -0400

Sure I have personal beliefs and I think for myself. It’s hard to have rational discussions with the kind of conservatives that post here. I hate to tell you this, but The Rebel attracts the batshit crazy kind of conservatives.

I have had no problem having rational discussions with Canada’s normal conservatives – who couldn’t stand SNN and think The Rebel is full of nutjobs.

Obviously I have an opposing view to the various topics that I comment on. If you have any specific questions – just ask.
commented 2015-06-21 20:54:34 -0400
No, Jimmy, the point is this: your sarcasm (as you call it) demonstrates that all you do is attack. You have no personal beliefs, and therefore blow with whichever wind prevails. You do not think for yourself; you do not analyze and compare and draw conclusions. You have no capability of rational discussion. All you do is attack. Sarcasm has no rational thought behind it; it is emotion only.

I repeat my challenge (that you have sidestepped repeatedly, and therefore prove my point): post something constructive. Post what you believe and support. You claim to enjoy debate; all you do is criticize. So show your cards.

And no, I don’t think you will, because I suspect you don’t have any concrete beliefs. If you do, I’m skeptical that you really know why you believe those beliefs.

Prove me wrong.

I think even less of you after reading that link. And just so you know – Republicans mock Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann as well. Everyone does quite frankly. It’s certainly not just a liberal thing.
commented 2015-06-21 16:16:17 -0400
Jimmy Da Silva; I echo some of the chastisement you have been receiving here. I also offer you a challenge like Prince Knight’s. You spout the very homogeneous, hateful and empty criticism the left loves to hurl at the Palins and the Bachmanns of the right, so just read Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann’s brief and inspiring commencement address she gave to the Class of 2015 at The King’s College in New York City recently:
…then try your knee-jerk criticism…Translation: Put up or shut up!, or, since Mr. Knight and I both don’t think you will, “Prove me wrong.”
Oh, and by the way, just to ‘clarify’, just for you, just “…how socially conservative Dan would like Canada to go.”, I wear it on my sleeve all over my FB page…but that would require actual work to read even a bit of what’s posted, not to mention some intellectual integrity in order to actually have or form an argument against it – which you Brave New Worlders are so averse to do – because that’s what you usually do…name calling, demonizing labels, character assassination… instead of debate!
commented 2015-06-20 22:44:36 -0400

It’s never too late to wake up and join the normal Canadian conservatives as opposed to being the batshit crazy conservatives.
commented 2015-06-20 22:26:10 -0400
Well Jimmy, I guess we are the dullards that we are. Obviously we are way, way too stupid to improve ourselves to the level conservative that you feel you can converse with.

I guess you have no alternative but to find higher level of conservatives somewhere else. Don’t let the door hit your ass on the ways out.
commented 2015-06-20 22:21:36 -0400

I would just be happy if you were among the normal conservatives of Canada. It has nothing to do with me or liberals.

You know the Republicans that are constantly made fun of in America – the Rick Santorum’s, the Sarah Palin’s, The Michelle Bachmann’s – the conservatives here are the Canadian equivalent of them.
commented 2015-06-20 22:09:19 -0400
Yes Jimmy. Of course you are right. All of us conservatives here are all bottom feeder idiots, twits, low brow nitwits and definitely no where close to your incredible intellect. I am in utter worship of your grace and majesty. sigh!

One has to wonder why such a towering intellect as yourself would hang around with such incredible dullards as us.
commented 2015-06-20 22:03:47 -0400
There are normal Canadian conservatives – intelligent, open minded, use common sense, progressive to some degree and may be socially liberal on some issues even though we may disagree politically for the most part.

And then the are the bottom of the barrel conservatives that ONLY hacks at the The Toronto Sun/Sun News Network and The Rebel are able to attract. These are the Sarah Palin conservatives of Canada and this is why Sun News Network failed – because the normal conservatives of Canada want something of actual substance when it comes to a conservative news network. They don’t want the Sarah Palin News Network.

Is anybody else finding that there is one advertisement that pulls the focus of their browser away from the comment area? Kindof annoying when trying to type in a comment.

Actually Liza, I think in another article thread she said she was going to leave for good.
commented 2015-06-20 20:31:01 -0400
We are learning to tolerate Joan, when she isn’t slandering and on her meds, she occasionally has something to contribute. The trolls she defends are given ample opportunity to contribute their opinion, something other than just an insult. You have to really look hard for any substance in between the slander . It is hard to find any content. It is just annoying, and I’m sick of Joan’s lies about the Rebels. I haven’t flagged anyone yet, but I’m getting sick of this BS.

Having gotten that off my chest, I hope this doesn’t now end up being all about you know who.

There you have it folks. Those are the idiots that are gonna counter your vote.

90% of the people are just plain idiots.

Prince Knight said: “So here’s the challenge — post something constructive.” Touche’. I hold a few degrees in Management Sciences. Management Principles, Conflict Resolution, Labour Relations….you get the picture. Fundamental in all Management Sciences is when bringing a problem to the table, bring a proposed resolution as well to be debated, modified, or at least to spark other ideas. That concept seems to be beyond our friend Jimmy Boy, who prefers to just throw mud. Indeed, this concept is virtually unknown to the left. There is no middle ground for them. Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, or I’ll whine, stomp, and insult until I get my way. Kind of like a spoiled child!

The issue most important to me is national security and, related to that, I wish some leader would take in hand the growing problem of organized crime including the terrorist organized crime that does business with the same mob, bikers and street gangs our police and governments do business with.

This is not just a problem “over there”. It is migrating to Canada not just by sea and air but by land from Central American places like Honduras and from the growing lawless Mexico. Already in the US, we see a trend toward the organized crime group, Nation of Islam, controlling all other local gangs.

Bin Laden’s legacy was what he called “a loose international network of criminal organization” – that is, the globalization of crime. Terrorists do not advance in a vacuum. Corruption in all governments all over the world aid their advance. Someone needs to stop that before we lose freedom entirely and fall under fascist, patriarchal rule by organized crime thugs who care nothing about religion but use it only to advance their own interests in greed and power.

Jimmy – How you define “Conservative” and how rebels define “Conservatives” is not the same.

I am a long-standing, card-carrying Conservative Party member, provincial and federal, yet on this very site, calls have been made to kill me and one poster said ISIS atrocities are acceptable to silence views like mine – just for supporting gender equity and for pointing out that Islamic misogyny is not just a problem “over there” but also very much poses a threat here. And not one other poster disagreed or objected to that extreme view of “Conservatism” rather like how too many on the left also support Islamacist legal and cultural gender inequities.

Gender equity, inclusiveness, diversity and tolerance of difference are all Conservative and Canadian values yet far too many who self-identify as “Conservatives” at therebel.media express extreme hatred against anyone who voices a different opinion and the rest stay silent about the fact that such hatred is not Conservative at all but much closer to fascist.

What point is that – that I am good with sarcasm. I have no idea how socially conservative Dan would like Canada to go. Hopefully he will clarify.

Jimmy blubbered, “We need to stop rights for women, rights for black people and rights for gay people – including the disgusting abomination that is gay “pride”. Please Stephen Harper – take Canada back to 1950.”

At no point has Harper ever said or claimed any such thing, nor have any of his actions indicated that he believes this horse rubbish. This is the sort of garbage you and your leftie idiot friends keep claiming and spouting over and over, but it is a lie, Jimmy, it is a lie. And those that keep spouting are either stupid or are themselves liars.

If Harper was as bad are lefties claim, they would not have to make up this rubbish.

You’re proving my point, Jimmy…
commented 2015-06-20 11:02:57 -0400

I was being sarcastic per Dan’s comment that Canada needs to move more in a social conservative direction.
commented 2015-06-20 10:52:33 -0400
Jimmy, enough with the hyperbole and fear mongering. Harper does not want what you’re accusing him of.

Jimmy, here’s a challenge/dare (because I don’t think you’ll actually do it): All I read of your posts is criticisms. So here’s the challenge — post something constructive. You deride Conservatives; fine. Post why you believe other than what Conservatives believe. Post what you believe and support. You claim to enjoy debate; all you do is criticize. So show your cards.

And no, I don’t think you will, because I suspect you don’t have any concrete beliefs. If you do, I’m skeptical that you really know why you believe those beliefs.

Prove me wrong.

The federal election issue matters most to me is, that the Conservatives secure another majority, and then really use that majority to stomp back all the embedded Liberals and other liberals and lefty/liberal PC mindsets in the system and move policy more to the right towards social conservatism.
commented 2015-06-20 00:18:24 -0400

We must be watching different CBC’s. In addition, I talk to conservatives all the time on the CBC website. The whole censoring of conservatives is a complete fallacy. I am debating the same shit on the CBC forums that I do here with conservatives.

Liza,those are 5 absolute priorities

Immigration and the foreign funded infiltration of the left.
Defending our economic interests, Canadian values and our Canadian borders.
