Our plan for the 2019 Canadian federal election
We’re not going to take on the Liberal Party. That’s the job of the other parties.
We’re going to take on something that’s far worse — a group that's much less honest. We’re going to take on the Media Party.
The CBC, the Toronto Star, all the Canadian bail-out media. And all the U.S. clickbait sites like the Huffington Post, Vice and BuzzFeed, foreign meddlers in our Canadian democracy.
And we’re going to do it by living up to our motto — "telling the other side of the story”.
That means we’re going to do actual journalism. We’re going to cover up to 100 different ridings over the course of the next seven weeks.
We’ll be out where the candidates are — asking them real questions
We practised this style of journalism in the Alberta election, especially with Anne McGrath, the NDP candidate who once ran as a Communist. We asked her legitimate questions about her Communist past — and within 90 seconds, she literally called the police to arrest our journalist!
Our five journalists are going to hit the road — and the airways. We’re going to cover the candidates across the country, even in the far north. We’re going to show up for Trudeau’s events — and for his cabinet ministers; and for his no-name backbenchers. And we’re going to ask accountability questions that they’ve never been asked before.
Some will answer well. Some will run away. And some will lose their cool — outraged that anyone dares to ask them questions.
But we’re not just grilling the Liberals
Don’t you think the kooky Green Party needs some questions asked? It almost seems cruel to scrum Jagmeet Singh — other than a pretty face, there’s not a lot there. But that’s the point — you rarely see him being asked a tough question. He should be. As should Andrew Scheer and Maxime Bernier.
We’ll ask them tough questions, too — we always do. But that’s pretty well-covered already by the Media Party, don’t you think? The mainstream media scrum Bernier and Scheer all the time — with gotcha questions, with personal attacks, with smears.
The real void in this election is going to be a lack of accountability questions for candidates on the left. We’ll tell the other side of the story.
Flying around the country
I expect that in the next seven weeks, our journalists will cover up to 100 ridings, across the country. I expect we will make up to 100 flights, from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island, from Whitehorse to Montreal, and everywhere in between.
I don’t want our people riding the official campaign bus for any party. We want the authenticity of asking real questions when we want — not when Gerald Butts wants.
And I want to hear the raw answers — whether it’s politicians calling the police, or calling us names. I want Canadians to see that.
My new book, "The Libranos"
I want to vet our prime minister and his whole team.
So I’m pleased to announce another part of our campaign plan: my new book called The Libranos: What the media won’t tell you about Justin Trudeau’s corruption.
It’s a quick read — it’s a paperback of 138 pages. But it has the collected facts about Trudeau and his corrupt team, from Bill Morneau to Gerald Butts to Dominic Leblanc. All the facts that the CBC doesn’t want to tell you.
And I want to spread the word about the book through gorgeous lawn signs, just like we did for Sheila Gunn Reid’s book on the Alberta election, called Stop Notley.
We've hired two people to drive across the country delivering signs to folks who have requested them.
You can see when they will be stopping by your neighbourhood at TheLibranos.com and you can sign up to help them distribute signs too!
And I want to ask the average Canadian man and woman on the street what they really think.
So I want to roll out more of those Jumbotron trucks to get the conversation going. We can roll out more jumbotrons letting people know that we think Justin Trudeau is a fake feminist, and then get people across to the country to weigh in.
So that’s our campaign plan.
Do you think that’s valuable? Five Rebel journalists, asking questions every day.
It’s not a political campaign plan. It’s a journalistic campaign plan. Our competitors aren’t the Liberals. Our competitors are the Media Party. And our advantage: we’re not bought off by any of the parties. So we can be honest. And we can be independent.
Can you help us?
Do you like my plan? If so, please help by making a donation below. We’ll publish our final budget after the campaign for full disclosure.
We can’t give you a political party tax receipt — but we can promise you we’ll make more of a difference, dollar for dollar, than any other group out there.
Because we’re 100% independent. And we’re journalists, not politicians.
So help us out, if you can. We need $100,000 to do our full-tilt campaign.
If you can voluntarily help us out, I’d be grateful — and in return, I promise you the best journalism in Canada.
