California Governor Jerry Brown has begrudgingly agreed to send 400 National Guard troops to California's border to offer reinforcements to border security and ICE agents — 400 compared to the 4,000 overall recommended by Secretary of Defense James Mattis.
Brown said that he will accept federal funding in exchange for deploying a small faction of troops to the state's border.
But his petulance is not only exhibited quantitatively. He announced that they will not be serving the purpose that he perceives the President and General Mattis intended:
"Let's be crystal clear on the scope of this mission. This will not be a mission to build a new wall. It will not be a mission to round up women and children or detain people escaping violence and seeking a better life. And the California National Guard will not be enforcing federal laws."
In Hollywood news (or non-news), comedian Chelsea Handler revealed that the #MeToo movement was a "complete referendum" on Trump.
I say that's non-news because nearly every act of outrage or defiance is a reaction to Donald Trump. The surprising part is that for once in her life, Chelsea Handler's mouth was open and she wasn't telling a lie.
Handler used to be a comedian but now considers herself a political activist. Does anyone know where she went to school? Did she receive her degree in policy or civics or history?
I feel like she's spent more time studying the male anatomy and taking naked selfies to post on her Instagram...
The Mueller Russia probe appears to be off the rails.
Earlier this week, the FBI raided the office of Michael Cohen, President Trump's personal attorney, and seized records from Cohen's property including documents pertaining to the money allegedly paid to Stormy Daniels.
They also seized tax records and electronic files in addition to paperwork and yet we are still unsure what it is they were looking for.
Last week, 52 per cent of those polled believed, "Mueller's investigation is an honest attempt to determine criminal wrongdoing."
But since the raid, a Rasmussen poll found that that is down 6 points.
And further, the number of people who now agree with President Trump that the probe is a "witch hunt" has jumped 8 points to 40 per cent.
