I'm going to start off today's Rebel Buzz and devote a majority of this video to someone who deserves a whole heck of a lot of praise.
As many of you heard, a tragedy took place at a Waffle House outside of Nashville, Tennessee. The gunman, who I'm not going to name out of principle, carried out a slaughter and took the lives of four people.
The person who I will name is a 29 year old man, an AT&T employee and father of a four-year-old girl, James Shaw Jr.
James Shaw Jr. is a hero. He hid behind a bathroom door and when the gunman paused to reload his weapon, Shaw jumped on him and wrestled the firearm away from the shooter. He then threw it over the counter and the gunman fled the scene.
If Shaw had not made that split-second decision, how many other people would have been shot, injured or killed?
This young man is also using his public platform to raise funds for families of victims.
As of the writing of this article, his GoFundMe page titled "Victims Of Waffle House Shooting" has raised over $220,000.
In the body of the post it states:
"My name is James Shaw Jr. I am creating this page to help the families of the victims from the shooting that took place at Waffle House in Antioch, Tennessee. Please take the time to donate as all of the proceeds will be given to the families. Thank you again for your generosity and blessings!"
Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that this young man should be honored?
I think one solid way of honouring him would be a visit to the White House. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Tuesday that a trip to the White House may be in the works.
I hope that President Trump will seize the opportunity to show support and admiration for the courageous actions of James Shaw Jr...
PLUS: The reboot of 90's sitcom Roseanne is still going strong!
It seems that Americans really enjoy tuning into a show that is funny, timely, and shows more accurately everyday life of real Americans.
And considering over 60 million people in this country voted for Donald Trump, the fact that the show's star, Roseanne Barr, is a Trump supporter likely helps their viewership.
As many shows do, some of the numbers took a dip this past week. It raked in 10.3 million viewers and a 2.5 rating among the key demo of age 18-49. This is the first drop since the reboot aired, which is a good sign that the show is still going strong.
Despite the loss in viewers, the show Tuesday still held it's nightly victory in the key demo.
And great news:
The show will begin filming Season 11 later this month, so we'll have more Roseanne to look forward to...
