Rebel Roundup: Guests Sheila Gunn Reid, John Cardillo, & More!

David MenziesMission Specialist

Every Friday evening on Rebel Roundup, we get together with other Rebel contributors to review the week's headlines, from the serious to the absurd.

Settle in and enjoy!

* Another fiasco is brewing for the PC Party of Ontario. A grassroots activist wants the party to stay true to its constitution and listen to members who want them to axe the carbon tax. But with Patrick Brown in charge, such viewpoints are apparently heresy. Sheila Gunn Reid fills us in on the latest controversy engulfing the Ontario PCs.

* John Cardillo joins me to discuss a 45-year-old unsolved murder-mystery involving a New York City policeman who was gunned down inside a mosque. You won’t believe the details surrounding this bizarre case!

* And you know all that care you take to properly dispose of your empty plastic containers to place them in the Blue Box as opposed to the trash can? Well, Rebel Commander Ezra Levant drops by to discuss why many of those recyclables end up in the dump anyway.

* And finally, your letters. I’ll share some of my favourite fan (and hate) mail regarding my recent commentary on Oprah Winfrey’s “presidential” Golden Globe speech and why it was really just more hypocritical Hollywood hooey.

Menzoid it sounded like you said ‘in the ax attacks’, I guess you were saying ‘in the ax the tax’ (at 5:17)

…you also gave MEMORYLANENIMA the benefit of the doubt in assuming he/she/71 other different possible genders(see Google), was a male. You shall burn in Pagan Hell for that you insensitive, politically incorrect NAZI! Racist! Trump Lover!
That was sarcasm…or satire…in case you were wondering.

Wynne needs to be re-elected in Ontario so the province can quickly complete its journey into bankruptcy. Only then will the PCs be forced to restore their conservative fiscal platforms of the past to try to repair the “shithole” that will be Ontario. Brown can learn from Scheer who seems to be slowly coming around when it comes to true conservative fiscal strategies, though, like Brown, his total lack of (non-fiscal) conservative values is only going to hurt the CPC chances in the next election.

Instead of recycling: “waste to energy” using modern clean technology. The waste ash, combined with recycled organic material (yard/food waste) should make for a smaller and more environmentally friendly landfill which can be seeded with suitable foliage.

Re: Conservatism

Ontario for sure is hooped. Even if they vote in the PC party Ontario will get the same old same old liberal government. If they vote in the NDP, they Ontario will be even worse off than they are now.

The federal Conservatives are also just a Liberal lite.

Conservatism in Canada is in serious trouble, and by extension so is Canada is serious trouble.

Yes, recycling in a failure. Too true … but the problem still remains. What do we do with all the garbage?

Land fill sites affect the quality of water and soil. It will only get worse as more land fill sites are created and buried.

What is the solution if recycling is not the solution?

Stephen Harper needs to come forward and read these so called Conservatives both Provincial and Federal the Riot Act as far as what being a Conservative is. Failing a new Party being created, fractured off of the Conservatives like the Reform Party, I will not vote for The Conservatives with the leaders they now have. They are going to commit suicide and few of them will survive. There will be a replay of the election results after the Mulroney Government got thrown out, there were just a couple of Conservatives in The Federal Government left. That is going to happen again if they don’t wake up, I don’t think I’m alone in my attitude choosing to put my vote elsewhere. Both Brown and Scheer are TRAITORS and the Party needs to get new leadership. They both acquired the job of leader through Deception.

- If the election were held today I’d be voting for the Trillium Party. Eaves, Tory, Hudak & now Brown. A collection of watered down Liberal policies because “we have to have similar policies to the Liberals for electability purposes”. So lets say Browns’ PC’s win this summer. What happens? He fires a couple Hydro execs. & tweaks a few regulations while the Liberals rebrand themselves for the next election? It’ll take time to build an opposition party? “The best time to plant an oak tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”

- There are many things happening in & around this time. The Vietnam War was going on. Kennedy had been assassinated a decade earlier. The Saudis were buying their way into the West (touched on in the movie “Network” about 3 years later) until & then after the oil embargo. There’s something rotten going on with this 45 year old unsolved cop killing. A symptom of something larger?

- The things worth pulling out of your garbage wouldn’t be there if they were valuable enough to recycle. Businesses don’t want to loses profit by putting your milk in silver lined bags. Metal & some types of high end print paper (I remember when this started – people were “stealing” this paper out blue bins around Toronto when the recycling program was first implemented there. It may be different now) are worth recycling but it’s mostly a money losing program that accomplishes nothing (aka, a government program.) I remember the Kirkland Lake fiasco. Toronto Mayor Miller & his socialists decided it was better to ship garbage to landfills in Michigan than by truck than Kirkland Lake by rail. Environmentalists are in the employ of those that they should, but don’t, attack. Count on it.
