The UN envoy on sexual violence says ISIS terrorists are running slave markets where kidnapped women and girls are sold for "several hundred or thousand dollars" or for "as little as a pack of cigarettes."
Zainab Bangura made this discovery while visiting ISIS occupied Iraq and Syria in April and speaking to women who had escaped.
According to the Guardian:
Abducting girls has become a key part of the Isis strategy to recruit foreign fighters who have been travelling to Iraq and Syria in record numbers over the last 18 months.
“This is how they attract young men: we have women waiting for you, virgins that you can marry,” Bangura said.
Bangura noted that while Yazidi religious leaders are welcoming the girls back into their communities, "no such pronouncements had come from the Turkmen leaders."
Recently, Ezra Levant spoke to Rev. Majed El Shafie, the Muslim-born Christian pastor who travels into ISIS held regions and rescues Yazidi girls.
He told Levant that he has exchanged some kidnapped girls for bottles of whiskey:
