Tonight on the show I chat with best selling Canadian author and teacher, Russell Hillier, about a little bit of everything.
Hillier is the brother of the first Canadian soldier who went to fight with the Kurdish military to stop the spread of the Islamic State in Northern Iraq. He co-authored “One Soldier”, with Dillon to tell the story of his experiences in the fight against the Caliphate.
The brothers have another book out now - a novel this time - called Pawns of War.
It’s a military thriller, loosely based on real life people and experiences, which he hopes will fill a void in Canadian literature because there aren’t enough books that men and boys actually want to read.
But I wanted to talk to Hillier for another reason, too, since his dad is Ontario PC MPP Randy Hillier. Russell has some pretty confident predictions for the upcoming Ontario election!
Join me tonight to hear what Russell has to say about the scourge of returning ISIS fighters walking Canada’s streets as free men, the depressing state of Canadian literature for males, and what Thursday’s Ontario election means for the rest of Canada.
