Sacha Baron Cohen's new show goes TOO far

Martina MarkotaRebel Contributor

Last night I watched the first episode of Sacha Baron Cohen’s new show "Who is America?" and it was brutal. I noticed that he started with a rather lame Bernie Sanders interview, that didn’t do much other than make Sanders look a bit confused on the TV.

But his other sketches, which saw him tricking conservative politicians and pundits into supporting a guns-for-children scheme, went too far in my opinion.

Listening to former Republican Congressman Joe Walsh’s explanation of what happened cleared a lot up. It’s evident to me that so much trickery was used in this show that it’s unfair to simply brand these politicians as idiots.

They were duped in an elaborate scheme, which outlined the importance of children being able to defend themselves. By feeding them success stories of Israeli children killing terrorists, he got conservative politicians on board with a plan that in all reality, was a bit silly.

I still have to ask – why doesn’t Sacha Baron Cohen go in so hard on the left?

Cohen managed to get an interview with the cranky old curmudgeon Andy Rooney from CBS’ 60 Minutes years ago. Rooney called security within a minute and had Cohen thrown out of the building.
He is a jerk and clown and his humour is old and dated. I’m surprised that somebody hasn’t cleaned his clock but maybe some day he will punk a wise guy and end up with the fishes.

I’m happy that someone watches this crap for me so I don’t have to. What a load of garbage. Left wing sophistry plays as reality for those who are desperately seeking comforting lies. More of the Michael Moore school of BS.

It has been a while since Tony had a name change. Maybe he’s learning. Nah, he’s a lefty.

Hyacinth, yes indeed!
Funny he doesn’t seem to see the irony!

Tony Stark commented 2 hours ago
“Tammie Putinski-Zandbelt,
Every single day you post the same bullshit. You live on here.”

LOL the total irony of his comment is no doubt lost on the troll of many monikers. He is definitely good for a laugh time to time.

I think it just exposes some gun nuts for what they are.

Thomas Brown,

So why do conservative comedians suck and don’t do even remotely as well as liberal comedians? The biggest and most successful comedians of all time – are not conservative.

Wow, practically the same rant from Snark as last week. Yada Yada Yada!

Dear Tony, we conservatives well understand that those Iron Man suits must run into the big bucks so you just kid yourself that you understand conservatives view point on comedy and go with the tin foil hat thing. It looks good on you.

Dear Martina,

We need to have a little chat.

Sacha Baron Cohen isn’t required to do what you want him to do or to be an equal offender. It’s completely ridiculous to ask – why doesn’t Sacha Baron Cohen go in so hard on the left?

That’s like asking – why doesn’t The Rebel have some liberals on staff, so that The Rebel is fair and balanced.

There are conservative comedians. The Rebel seems to love Steven Crowder. Why not put a message out to all conservative comedians to come up with their own shows to stick it to liberals like Cohen does – although quite frankly, none of them are a genius like Cohen.

Conservatives like you endlessly piss and moan about all the talk shows that bash conservatives yet ignore the point that they are popular because people like them. You know what isn’t popular? Fox News attempts to have their own version of The Daily Show like Red Eye and The Greg Gutfeld Show.

You know why they are not popular and no one cares? Because they fucking suck and conservative comedians are generally just awful.

That’s what the free market says.

So don’t blame Cohen for doing what people want to see and don’t ask stupid questions like: why doesn’t Sacha Baron Cohen go in so hard on the left? He doesn’t need to appease conservatives.

Very good point from street artist Sabo, there is more than enough bullsht going on in Cohen’s own country to fill a lifetime. The show sounds stupid, and sad.

Martina, I think you found your next project…run it past Ezra and see if he agrees!

Don’t watch it then.

Problem solved.

If there are people who want to watch, then they should be able to – in a free country.
