In this era of political correctness, when things are done not for their positive impact, but so that nobody can take offence, Australia Day on 26 January has been under siege.
Leftist attempts to abolish the day or change the date have now infected local government.
The Australian Local Government Association has said that councils around the country should lobby the Federal Government to move the day.
This is a big worry, as local councils host Australia Day across the nation.
In truth, 26 January is not meant to cause Aborigines any offence or disrespect.
Rather, it's a celebration of Western civilisation arriving in Australia, an important reminder of what Western culture, democracy and economic development have achieved for our country.
Those things are worth celebrating.
Australia Day is important for longstanding Australian families, for people from a European background.
It's our one day of the year and nobody should touch it.
