School assignment asks students to write about why they're converting to Islam, how to tell their parents

StaffRebel Columnist

A homework assignment given to students on the island of Guernsey asks them to write a letter to their parents explaining why they're converting to Islam.

The assignment was created Religious Education teacher Miss Amber Stables at the Les Beaucamp High School.

Directions for the assignment were posted online.

“Complete the letter you started or started planning in class to your family on how you are converting to Islam.

Include: How you’re feeling, how becoming a Muslim has changed your life, how much you love your family and hope they can accept your choice.

Focus: How would it make you feel having to tell your parents this?? How would/could they react?”

The assignment also included a disclaimer, “Please also note this is a piece of creative writing and completely fictional YOU ARE NOT ACTUALLY CONVERTING TO ISLAM. It is purely to test your knowledge of what we have learnt this year and how well you can argue objectively!!!!”

As the Islamification of Europe continues, young students are forced into adopting Muslim ideals.

It wasn't long ago that 'God' was replaced with 'Allah' in a school assignment in Austria.

Germany even launched a 'Mein Jihad' campaign in an attempt to white wash violent jihad.

Is anything surprising anymore?

This is crazy

As a student i’d go along with it and really mess up the teacher. I’m converting so that when I let off my suicide bomb in a packed theatre or shopping mall I will get my 72 virgins. I’m converting so that I can see what it feels like to chop off the head of an infidel. I’m converting so I can have 4 wives and beat them as I see fit. Oh and we are supposed to discuss breaking the news to my parents well I would read them all the parts of the Koran that tell me all the disgusting things I can do to non believers and if they give me any flak they may find themselves stoned to death in their own bed. Wow, I could have a lot of fun with this and still be factual….

Students, Please write a letter to your parents explaining why you hate Jews and want to blow them up in public and kill them wherever you find them. Try to get them to sympathize with you so they can feel what it’s really like to be a muslim.

schools should not teach this everyone is so quick to want to teach their citizens about islam teach islam about the new country they live in i would never allow my children to partisipate in such bias school teaching

I would not allow my child to participate in this kind of rhetoric. A teacher is to teach, not incite or indoctrinate or show preference to any religious or political belief (public schools). They should be neutral/non-biased. I have no problem with teaching ALL religions, as knowledge can dispel fear. This topic doesn’t teach them anything.

Kids should be writing an essay on “the particular method of parents committing jihad on their instructor”
commented 2016-02-20 12:29:20 -0500
what is wrong with educating our children on living in a multi-cultural society? Makes perfect sense to me.

Now do the same assignment to Muslim children who convert to Christianity. I somehow don’t think the children would be alive today would they, or the teacher.

I am sure Justin wants in one this one, though Gerald has to let him use his crayons for this , so supervision will be required so Justin does not hurt himself. Those crayons can be pretty sharp you know.

Europe, the UK and the Channel Islands are already essentially gone.

Waste of time worrying now – just waiting for the real violence which will lead to war to start

Nathan why should we feel compelled to understand Muslim ideals? Why not the ideals of Eskimos or the ideals of those living on a certain street in Winnipeg?
commented 2016-02-19 21:59:24 -0500
What is this preoccupation with all things Muslim? They are a radical cult that has succeeded in reducing a progressive culture that was highly developed to one that essentially can’t get out of its own way. Moreover if you come from a culture that shows any signs of advancement they want to chop your head off. Again this whole global preoccupation with all things Muslim is excellent fodder for a conspiracy novel.

Nathan….Why are these assignments about converting to Islam, why not assignments about converting to other religions? When you have assignments geared to one religion then it is actually called indoctrination, Webster say’s “to imbue with partisan or sectarian opinion, point of view, or principle”.

Methinks this teacher is some kind of fruit cake. She probably Trolls in her spare time.

Of course not, Rae. Never. It’s not indoctrination; it’s all done in the spirit of tolerance, inclusion and understanding.

Nathan…get some help.

Surely Andea L Galante.., You are Not suggesting that the government would stoop so LOW as to indoctrinate the Children ?

For a person of faith, this exercise could be very problematic. A true Christian is NOT going to renounce Christ for the sake of a fictitious school assignment. The very nature of the assignment is incredibly disrespectful to those that are devout to any religion other than Islam. World religions can be studied with the assignment simply being ‘write a comparative analysis of Islam to any of the other religions we studied this term. please include deities, customs and rituals.’

Yep, definitely overtime.

That’s right Nathan, in your words- They are being ‘forced’ to UNDERSTAND Muslims ideals. That really is what the educational system should be all about, forcing them. How about we ‘force’ them to excel in basic language skills, math, science, history. Just wondering, which of the 50+ genders do you identify with ? Nothing being ‘forced’ there with young impressionable minds either is there ?

Any chance of a school assignment asking students to write a letter to their Parents explaining why they’re converting to Christianity or Judaism? No? This is strange.
commented 2016-02-19 18:14:01 -0500
What have these students learned that requires them to write a letter detailing their conversion? I doubt they have learned anything about Islamism. Guernsey has refused to accept Syrian refugees and I am curious how parents will view this assignment.

Man oh man, when will you guys ONCE write an article relating to Islam that does not contain at least element that is so basically untrue as to be an outright lie.

While I defend your right to free press rights as well, most people can easily understand why she felt right in doing what she did.

“young students are forced into adopting Muslim ideals”

That is a complete misrepresentation of the facts to the point out being an outright lie. They are being forced to UNDERSTAND Muslims ideals, not adopt them.

I’m afraid I’d flunk this class. Having rejected mysticism and fanaticism at an early age, I’m afraid the only conversion letter I’d be writing would how to convert tribalistic shamanism to rubble with some simple logical positivism.

Something like “I’m converting to Islam because, like my teacher, Islam so perfectly encodes my values of misogyny, violence, rape, intolerance, inequality, bigotry, homophobia, hierarchy, patriarchy, slavery, xenophobia, discrimination, capital punishment, theocracy, and dictatorship”?
