Secret oil sands deal PLUS David Goldman, a.k.a. "Spengler"

Rebel Staff

Four oil tycoons signed a secret deal with four environmental lobbyists -- and that's why Alberta has a carbon tax.

There was a great story in today’s Financial Post, by Claudia Cattaneo:

"Secret deal on oilsands limits divides patch."

The story is one touched on immediately after Rachel Notley unveiled her massive carbon tax in Alberta.

At the time, I couldn't figure out why two major oil companies would show up for her announcement.

Now we're finding out why, and the situation raises a lot of legal and ethical issues.

This deal isn't just about the destruction of Canada’s great economic engine, it’s the formalization of bribes and pay-offs to lobbyists and insiders.

We have to fight back, now more than ever. Please join our fight at

My guest tonight is one of my favourite writers: David Goldman, better known as "Spengler," who writes about foreign affairs for the Asia Times Online and elsewhere.

We talk about the Paris terror attacks, whether or not we should cheer Putin's attacks on ISIS and more.

It's a thought provoking conversation with one of the clearest, most insightful thinkers around!

The NDP budget is a disaster. 50,000 are out of work. Investment is fleeing the province.

Life is a bribe. Intelligent people know the masses lack intelligence for forming rational decisions. Bribe through the years of irrational foolishness and money is made. Fail to do so and lose or at the very least marginalize your progress. I think ants are more productive in that they don’t sabotage their own species.

It is scary to think that what will become of Canadian strength and freedom will depend on what happens and how strong a Liberty Leader President America picks? As your guest stated Ezra!
We should have kept Harper or found a strong Conservative leader to run a year ahead of this last election! Dam hindsight is 20/20! I do not wish to live under Communism or be sold out to the Chinese! We have got to get the Governor General to oust PM Justin Trudeau!
We are trying to do that at a website called Canadians Want A New Prime Minister! If this is what you want come join us we need the numbers!

If this oil company sell out is completely true, and I personally believe it is fully true, this is nothing more than the enviro fascists strong-arming control of the energy industry. This is nothing less than a massive move toward the ‘one world government’ centralized control of everything. The ONLY way to counteract this now is Alberta will have to physically throw out the ndp, but, the trudeau regime is even more extremist than the notley ndp. That means our only hope to remain as free people is to separate.

Best thing I ever did? Cut my cable! Yes I cancelled all tv subscriptions in the summer of 2015. I thought I would miss out on the political narratives during the election, but I found The Rebel! Thank you for giving a voice to those of us who do not agree with main stream media.
I only have one suggestion/criticism for Ezra. I am in complete agreement with your thoughts on our new prime minister. He is a shameful self promoter with no regard for the common Canadian citizen. However, he and his wife are parents to 3 small children. I do believe that 24 Sussex does need to have renos done. It has been reported that it still has knob and tube wiring and asbestos on the pipes. As a parent myself, I would want those things fixed for the safety of my children. As a taxpayer, I want those things fixed for insurance purposes.
I am however unclear as to if those upgrades total $10 million. When stating the renos and the cost Ezras voice holds much disdain. It might be helpful for us in the public if some research was done as to how much of the renos are necessary and how much of our taxpayer money is going toward esthetic renovations.
Preserving a heritage home and Canadian icon will cost and I believe is a justified cost. My only question is how much will it cost to bring it up to code?
Thank you for honesty in journalism. I will continue watching and reading.

Getting paid off in exchange for you agreeing to stop harassing someone is racketeering, right? Mafia protection “It’d be a shame if something bad were to happen to your little establishment” type stuff. Not that the foreign environmental lobbyists will actually live up to their end of the shakedown.

These NDP crooks in Alberta have to go. Rally against bill 6 tomorrow at noon at the leg grounds. Be there if you can to show your support.
