Sensitivity training and America's $64 billion "culture of fear"

Gavin McInnesArchive

I recently appeared on John Stossel's show, where I talked to a guy who runs sensitivity training for big companies.

He told me it costs American companies $64 billion/year to deal with complaints and lawsuits stemming from "political incorrectness" in the workplace.

The cost is even factored into union negotiations now!

We've created a culture where it's easier to sue than to work, and being an entrepreneur is a living hell.

PS: Let me tell you about the atmosphere when I worked at Sun News, which had no human resources department.

Good to start with what is meant by “culture”. According to Dr. Joe Boot, Ezra Institute, “Culture has consequently been accurately described as ‘religion externalized,’ or more simply, applied beliefs. Go to Saudi Arabia and you will experience Islamic culture, specifically manifest by its law and education. Go to certain parts of India and you will witness Hindu culture with its integral mythology and the resulting caste system. Come to the West and you now witness humanistic culture with strong remnants of Christianity in people’s language, literature, beliefs and other cultural artefacts, like architecture.” “Sensitivity training” is then nothing less than the humanistic, cultural Marxists, imposing their culture, political correctness, on everyone else.

The rates of depression in North America are staggering.

There is a clear correlation between a sterile humourless desert like work environment and litigious work culture and overall mental health. I understand consultants, lawyers and HR professionals must comply with the current legislation and court imposed jurisprudence. However, said legislation is creating, not preventing, hostile workplaces.

It’s time for some common sense.

Gavin….in my last years as a public servant….it was known that I was an MRA….I got away with that because I had friends on the big hill….and a few at the local level who had enough integrity to defy the edicts.

I was preesured regularly to attend various “workshops” “lectures” LADEDADEDA…..it was pointed out to me that I had not attended any in years….I asked….if what is presented is the truth…..why would I need a booster shot?

And I responded with the defiance…..I WOULD RATHER LET A TARANTULA LAY IT’S EGGS IN MY EAR

And I would respond with more defiance that if I was pressured to attend and punished for refusing…..I would make it a case of hostile environment sexual harassment…..and I already had more than enough evidence to make that a slam dunk…the only reason why I refrained from going for the tort easy street was that, I did not want to embarass my collegues who were decent.

To all posters who replied to my outcry….thank you….I found it….and let me make this plain…..there is NOTHING in contemporary life that brings out the the worst in me quite the packaging approved by OBSESSOCORP (a consortium of insurance underwriters trying to fend off tort law avalanche )….or systems that hover over every Goddamned word you say…..:-)

If I ever met the bitch/or son thereof at APPLE who deceided that “misandry” and “misandrist” were not valid English vocabulary….I would beat the crap out of him and do the time with my head held high…….:-)

That’s one of the reasons why I wasn’t behind Ezra on another thread…..:-)

Good one, Gavin! Unfortunately, it’s gone way beyond the HR departments. Our whole society is adopting (has adopted?) this screwed up pc culture. The equivalent of the HR department can be found everywhere from the local police to elementary school to university to the HRCs, to …..

If I had a pair of those underwear, I would wear them on the outside of my pants with a jug of pickled eggs under one arm and a chili dog in the other hand and a beer helmet and walk through the stampede grounds.

Man, I would love to work with Gavin.
Oh right. I guess I already do.

By and large Progs and the PC are to involved in making themselves victims to have fun or be cool. Sad and pathetic is their badge of honor.

Firefox go to the Tools (Alt F – not Alt-F, but Alt, then F), Options, Advanced, General tab, Browsing/Check my spelling as I type unchecked
commented 2015-07-09 00:23:50 -0400
Internet Explorer:
1.Go to Tools (ALT-T), Manage add-ons, uncheck ‘enable spelling correction’ at the bottom of that dialog
commented 2015-07-09 00:20:40 -0400
In Chrome:
To turn on suggestions, right-click inside the text field that you’re typing in and select Spell-checker options and deselect the “check the spelling of text fields”

Liza you are right he is not a prospect for Chippendales……:-)
But he does remind me of my maternal grandfather who…if he were alive today would be deemed anatomically correct and politically incorrigible ….he was also a master of being able to invoke a fart pretty much at will and with effective conversational punctuation.

But Gavin, we now live in a world where people are seeking the tort suit that will put them on easy street….and where law schools graduate battalions in an environment that is not so target rich……lawyers must eat what they kill or go hungry.

What is needed on MANY fronts is tort law reform…..political correctness is only a convenience for scammers who want to play this game.
