Swimming lessons at Inspire Sports Village in Stopsley, Luton, Bedfordshire now has gender-segregated time slots because “Alhamdulliahswimming” is happening on Fridays.
According to Express, men are given exclusive access to the larger 50 metre competitive pool while women must use a 20 metre community pool.

“Alhamdulliahswimming” is a Muslim phrase that means Thank Allah for his blessing.
One unnamed and enraged female swimmer said that, “The Friday night session for everyone is now closed because of the listed men-only sessions. I have asked a team leader about it - as there are no managers at the weekend - and he said it was a 'cultural thing'.”
Posters promoting “Alhamdulliahswimming” demand that the “navel to knee must be covered”.

UKIP MEP Jane Collins called out the “cultural” reasoning as truly being Islamic. She called this “a step backwards for community relations and gender equality.” She went on to say that, “The leisure centre have said this is for cultural reasons and I think we all know that means for the Muslim community.”
“Under English law we have equality between men and women. This is not the same in cultures who believe in Sharia Law,” Collins continued. “If the men want to swim without women catching a glimpse of them in their budgie smugglers why don't they go and use the smaller pool?”
