Omar Khadr's sister, Zaynab Khadr, is in the custody of Turkey.
It's important to note that in 2005, she was under investigation for terrorism offences by the RCMP.
According to The Toronto Star, Zaynab moved to Turkey in 2012 where she remarried and had two children.
Omar Khadr will now become "a propaganda tool to demoralize and demonize the West" -- with help from Canada's Media Party
A spokesperson for the Department of Global Affairs said that the government is aware of a Canadian being detained in Turkey, but would not reveal the person's name for privacy reasons.
Zaynab defended her brother for killing US Army Medic Christopher Speer.
“What do you expect him to do, come up with his hands in the air? I mean it's a war. They're shooting at him. Why can't he shoot at you? If you killed three, why can't he kill one? Why is it, why does nobody say you killed three of his friends? Why does everybody say you killed an American soldier? Big deal,” she said during an interview years ago.
