Beyond profits: How the oil and gas industry benefits communities

Holly NicholasRebel Commentator

Nobody ever talks about the socioeconomic benefits of the oil and gas industry because it would ruin the narrative for environmentalists and doesn’t make for a flashy headline, but there are many communities that benefit from the industry.

Watch as I show you two in particular that have greatly benefitted from oil and gas projects and the jobs they generate-Newfoundlanders who found a solution to the chronic unemployment they faced when cod fishing collapsed and First Nations groups like those in Fort Mackay.

If we continue to let the lies about the industry control the narrative, we’ll be suffering in poverty ourselves like we see in Ontario where citizens are in energy poverty, unable to afford to pay their bills to keep the lights on or their homes heated.

Soon this will come to Alberta, where a destructive green energy focussed government is driving investments and prosperity out of the province.

Canadians need to hear more about the socioeconomic benefits of the oil and gas industry and the human impact of demonizing it with lies.

Back it up. You repeatedly come up with these “Sky is falling statements”… and with absolutely no info behind it to support your argument. Dupe? PLUSMOST environmentalists are aware that we can’t live without it. Everything in hospitals is derived from oil (e.g., plastic?)…our food is transported and harvested with it…so that said, why don’t you really stick it to our government: If we need it and it IS good for our communities, why the hell are we importing sub-grade oil from the middle-east (e.g., oil with no ethical or environmental standards)? If you really cared, you’d be turning screws on this instead of creating HERESAY to get VOTES.

By the time these destroyers are out of office, there will have been so much damage created we would need someone like D. Trump to come in and simply say ‘no’. But, realistically, Canada has no one like him. We are in quicksand.

Sorry Christine Marois.. Wish that were true…. But the 780 acre Irving refinery complex in St. John, New Brunswick – the largest in Canada – used to use Bakken shale oil, but since 2015 has been using cheaper crude from Saudi Arabia… The Saudi crude comes in via supertankers tying up at the deep water CANAPORT wharves in St. John… The tankers plow up the Bay of Fundy taking out the occasional sea mammal in the process… Hence the insanity of Quebecers and some N.Bs blocking the development of a new Canadian crude pipeline to the complex… The only other method of supply is via the existing rail lines, with the inherent dangers of shipping via rail…

Oil companies that are Canadians that do not buy from the Middle East: Petro-Canada, Irving.

Companies that buy from the Middle East: Esso, Texaco, Shell. To name a few.

Peter either they are paid like John states or they are just plain ignorant and brainwashed. Meanwhile they consume happily and enjoy the luxuries afforded from the resources they hate so.

Peter, because they are either paid or duped to shut our industry down.

Kevin, I think you hit the nail on the head. Though, I would like to hit the paid traitorous activists on the head (figuratively speaking, of course).

Good question Peter . I think there are very wealthy people from other countries who do not want Canada to continue to grow our natural resources , These people ar in the same industry and have a lot to loose if Canada grows .These powefull people pray on our week minded , coward polititions like Trudeau ,Notly , Wynn , and the mainstream media who are all payed off to lie to the common peons .

it doesn’t make sense when “green environmentalists” want to destroy the environment by choking what makes the environment green; namely chlorophyll needed for photosynthesis

Harley said, "Canadians can supply all Canada’s oil, coal, wood and jobs that go along with it. "

The question is, then, why are so many in Canada trying desperately to shut down using these resources and the jobs that come with its’ extraction?

Watched a documentary from 1976 last night. Canada has a coal seam that spans three provinces
enough coal to last 300 years taking into account expansion in population. In the Canadian shield we have one third of the worlds high value metals. Oil sands are one third of the worlds oil reserves.
We don,t need to cut down old growth forest either. Canada has a lot of wood.
In the next two elections some of the big questions should be.
Why does Canada import 600,000 barrels of oil per day from Dictator,s half way round the world in tankers burning bunker sea oil the lowest grade of oil to get here and are infamous for washing their tanks out at sea. No carbon tax for them. No eco activists on them. How can this be safer and have a smaller carbon foot print, than shipping from west to east by pipeline.
Canadians can supply all Canada’s oil, coal, wood and jobs that go along with it.
Why shut down Canada’s coal industry when we have the best grade of coal in the world and are leaders in clean coal tech exporting it around the world. A lot of very clean coal fired electrical plants are to be taken off line why? So we can import that too.
These governments sell our oil for half the going rate, then import oil for billions. killing coal fired power plants will cause massive electrical increased in rates, So they will import electricity too.
Canada’s forests sold off for nothing and the goods bought back at ten times the price WTF.
Other countries are making a lot of money and jobs ripping off Canada.
Can’t wait to be rid of these politicians who seem to hate us so much.
