Stephen Colbert is wrong about “horrible” Trump — Here's what POTUS has accomplished (so far)

Amanda HeadRebel Contributor

Unfunny late night comedian Stephen Colbert has spent the last three years howling about Donald Trump and calling it entertainment. Now, he's coming right out and saying that what Trump is doing to the nation is “horrible.” Oh, yeah?

Colbert, you and your Hollywood buddies can’t just say things out loud and hope that they’re true. Trump has accomplished a great deal, and unlike you he doesn't need a writers' room to crack his best jokes.

Poverty and unemployment numbers have taken a dive.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act resulted in 4.8 million workers receiving bonuses or wage increases.

Over 100 utility companies have dropped rates thanks to the same tax reform.

I have more where that comes from. Lots more.

WATCH as I go through the highlights from the first two years since Donald J. took over the White House.

I like Amanda’s report on Trump’s accomplishments, but the detail is very sparse. Is there a more comprehensive written listing of said accomplishments one could access?

Andrew Stephenson LMAO! Yeah sure it was exploding since 2011 like it has since Trump got elected. Your imagination is humorous.

Ten year US unemployment chart
(original source, US government. Table from tradingeconomics)

Ten year Dow Jones Industrial average chart

(sorry about the sources, it’s hard to find embeddable charts that don’t revert to the 6 month default upon linking).

What I’d like you to observe, is that you can’t tell when Trump was elected from these tables. The trends didn’t change noticeably, other than perhaps the choppiness in the DJIA in the last year or so.

Can you imagine if Donald Trump read that list of achievements at the United Nations? The laughter would certainly be more than Colbert has ever gotten. Colbert depends on writers and people know he is trying to be funny. A dupe like Trump always gets the best laughs.

Al Peterson’s experience talking to a friend about Trump: The only come back was essentially that Trump is loud and abrasive.
Al, I had almost the same experience except my friend ended up saying, " Trump just doesn’t fit the bill to be a US President," meaning he has rough edges.
I guess it’s better to be polite like Obama and accomplish nothing.

I sure wish Andrew Scheer was like Donald Trump. Unfortunately he’s chicken.

Economic growth, improving employment and stock markets etc are all trends that predate Trump. The economy’s been running full tilt since about 2011. It has accelerated somewhat, but that’s entirely due to government stimulus from borrow-and-spend policies.

Although I appreciate what the tax cuts have done for my investment portfolio (probably well into five figures of gains) I still think the resulting deficit – proportionally, three times larger than Canada’s – is a bigger concern. If the whole thing collapses in a debt crisis 20 years out, what’s the benefit to us?

Ron Joseph, we can always forward these videos to people we think need to hear them. I had a discussion similar to this with a relative a while back. He was going on about what a terrible president Trump is an dhow he has accomplished nothing. So I simply said, “what about….” and went through a list similar to Amanda’s. One huge thing is that Trump has never started a war in spite of us being told he is a war monger on the cusp of destroying the world. He has is the only president to get north Korea to the table since WWII.

The only come back was essentially that Trump is loud and abrasive. “And that means he hasn’t accomplished anything in your mind”, said I. There followed a long silence and mumbling.

Stephen Colbert has been having bouts of “verbal diarrhea” since the night of November the 4th, 2016… And many more “poopy days” to come…

Clowns like Colbert just keep alienating people with their childish ignorance. I am quite enjoying it.

He has done a lot and for the actual people not just for cronies.

Amanda, I enjoyed you commentary showing us the President’s accomplishments, however I don’t believe this audience needed convincing.
You should Fed-Ex a copy to Colbert and the other night show hosts.
