Study: Christians most persecuted religious group

Candice MalcolmRebel Contributor

In much of the world, Christians do not have the freedom to celebrate Christmas.

According to a recent Pew Research study, Christians in 52 per cent of the world’s countries are discriminated against or mistreated in some way.

Christians are now the most persecuted religious group in the world.

Over the past century, millions of Christians have been killed or driven away by hostile governments and aggressive insurgencies.

It’s estimated between half and two-thirds of the Christian population has disappeared from the Middle East over the past hundred years.

After the end of the First World War, Syria’s Christian community made up about 30 per cent of the country’s population. There was a vibrant Christian community, and they were safe.

Today, the number of Christians in Syria has dropped below nine per cent. Given the ongoing crisis in Syria, I wouldn’t be surprised if that number was much, much smaller.

And yet, Canada’s refugee program now specifically avoids sponsoring persecuted religious minorities, including Christians from the Middle East.

If nothing is done to stop the persecution of Christians, it is possible that in our lifetime there will be no churches left within a thousand kilometers of Bethlehem.

This Christmas let us all pray for the safety of Christians, and let’s do more to ensure the survival of ancient Christian communities across the Middle East.

ROBERT RAMRATTAN – stop whining? The article is bringing some facts into the public light. I don’t sense whining. Persecuted minorities in oppressive countries usually can’t afford to move to a nearby city, never mind leave their country. If you want something o thine about, I can visit you personally to explain persecution. Do you live in Queens Village or the Bronx?

I am sure Pew Research in its study did not consider the so-called ‘soft’ persecution of Christians in the West, including Canada and the U.S.
commented 2016-12-26 04:41:54 -0500
How do you figure that Robert?
What more can we do to welcome Muslims ? I know what your are saying—- so-Say IT.
commented 2016-12-25 23:37:51 -0500
Robert that is complete and utter BULLSHIT! The west has bent over backwards for them. And we do lots for the poor and minorities here, maybe try some reality. Minorities have more rights than i do. And do you include Israel when you say they can handle their own affairs? I doubt it. And sorry to tell you they are not Muslims countries or they weren’t until they were invaded and forced to convert in large numbers, Christians were in Mosul before Muhammed was born.

Not much different than what would be done to Muslims here were it permitted. If you’re a Christian living in a Muslim country, you’re asking to be marginalized. Just like if you’re poor,or a visible minority and you vote Conservative or Liberal – or as I call them “Tory Light.”
You may not agree with their methods, but other nations have the rights to handle their internal affairs how they like without your approval. Don’t like it? Then go over there and DO something about it. Complaining about as problem without doing something about it is called whining.

Keith Barnes, You’re right. Sickening isn’t it?

The reason that Christians are not being picked to come to Canada is because Justin is only interested in importing persons who are suitable for forming His Fifth Column. The Islamic Gang that will attempt to kill all none Muslim’s living here.
commented 2016-12-25 17:54:24 -0500
Outrageous how oblivious justin is. The crusades failed only in the fact that they stopped short of eradication of Islam.

One of the reasons middle east Christians aren’t making it over here is because at the middle east refugee camps, muslims kick the shit out of the Christians and rape them making them run for cover as they are far outnumbered. So where is the UN’s protection for Christians? There isn’t any and there never will be because the UN is Islamic.
The other rotten thing about all of this is pope Francis doesn’t speak out in defence of Christians. He seems more concerned about the poor sickening mistreated muslims (who are killing the Christians). It’s time for all the cardinals and bishops who know the truth to corner this pope and dethrone him if he can’t speak up for the church’s people.
With all the violence and history of violence and bloodshed by Islamic muslims, why is the world standing by and allowing Christians, who are peaceful, to be persecuted, ridiculed, raped, tortured and killed. This didn’t even happen to the Jews for long during the 2nd ww once the world knew the truth. Where is everybody? Where’s the outrage? I guess it’s more important for the world to be outraged about animal cruelty, or an unwanted pregnancy, or the garbage in the environment. Yeah, cleaning up garbage and abortion is more important than human lives. Humanity is being controlled by Satan.

If indeed you are a true Jesus following, Bible believing Christian the steadily increasing persecution of Christians should not be a surprise, rather it should be a very loud wake up call. The Bible is replete with example after example and warning after warning that persecution will come as this world inevitably succoms to the evil desires of satan himself.
If you have not received Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior I beseech you to do so at this very moment. This world as we know it is about to enter a time of destruction and sorrow like never before experienced.

Stop watching her videos, Anonymous. And quit your damn bitching and complaining. Nobody cares.

Oh dear god Candice is boring! I nearly fell asleep watching this video.

It is frightening to think of what is happening in the world. I am haunted by these men, depicted in the picture for this story, whether they were drugged before they were so brutally and inhumanely beheaded. It is so incredibly unbelievable that this kind of brutality could occur.
Christians will ALWAYS be persecuted, that is our job! As Pope John Paul II said it is not easy being Christian (my words).
Like these men and many women who have been persecuted by the evils in this world, I pray we can each hope to be that brave and strong and devout to Christian beliefs to have the last words spoken: thy will be done.
Many other religions have the same strength and depth of belief. It is a blessing and I hope, for all, each and everyone one of us can experience this depth.

MP, how do you know Candice is married to a Muslim? Where did you get your information. I can’t find anything about her private life on line… only her articles. So what makes you think she’s married to a Muslim?
commented 2016-12-24 23:13:46 -0500
Hey lefties you always excuse the Islamic attacks on us as being our fault for meddling and bombing their cities and such, so please tell me why they are wiping out Christians and Christianity in their own countries , these people have not bombed or meddled in their affairs. OF course you will not answer since you hate to face reality.

Wondering how long we will be able to celebrate Christmas in Canada?

Interesting video coming from a woman who’s MARRIED to a Muslim.

Kelvin Grabowsky, so, in a way, the churches are just arms of the government anymore, with their tax exempt status and other money they get from government for social programs. It’s too bad things have worked out that way.

Maybe we need the Second Coming of Christ now.
commented 2016-12-24 22:16:12 -0500
A Rebel Fan, with the language and thought laws that left governments are imposing on us , churches are afraid to speak out or they will lose their tax exempt status. That’s blackmail.

Wouldn’t hurt to forge plough shears back into swords and onward Christian soldiers. I heard of a guy that took on a bunch of money lenders and wasn’t afraid to be crucified for it.

What I think is that the Christian churches in the West need to stop rolling over and playing dead in the face of Islamic extremists as though they were dogs doing tricks. They need to start standing up for Christian values. What can ordinary people do when the churches themselves only appease Muslims? They seem to drive Christians away in droves and when “Syrian refugees” get here with all their health and social and whatever other kinds of problems, they dote on them. If the churches have a death wish, what can ordinary people do?

Maurice that’s an excellent publication and the subscription is free. Great cause.

Heavens no Peter, it goes against the narrative. In fact the left media and left wing atheist elites cheer on the Christian genocide. There’s a war going on. What’s really disappointing is that the Canadian churches who are so sympathetic to the Muslim refugee cause seem to be quieter than crickets when it comes to their own. Time they get informed as most are just as duped by the MSM as most other Canadians.

You will never see this type of study exposed of the CBC or any of the other main stream media.
