A campaign update: Recently The Rebel started a petition at StopTheIndoctrination.com. In our sights was a Grade 6 social studies textbook called “Canada and the Global Community.”
While the textbook is listed on Ontario’s Trillium List in reality, it included anti-Israel propaganda which stated that child soldiers have been used in Israel.
As I pointed out in my last video, that claim is categorically false.
While Israel’s enemies such as Hamas DO use children in combat, the Israel Defence Force has a minimum age for enlistment pegged at 18 (a global standard among civilized nations).
In our petition, we asked that Nelson Books Limited (the publishers of this textbook) amend the respective sections — and they have done just that.
According to a widely distributed letter addressed to schools that utilize the book, the Senior Publisher at Nelson admits:
“The State of Israel should not have been included in this listing in the first place, as it does not employ child soldiers.”
Nelson goes on to “apologize for any confusion," and promises to “remove “Israel” from the text… in future printings," recommending that schools “make a notation of [the] error in the book so that students and teachers alike may not be ill informed.”
I want to personally thank every Rebel supporter who added their name to this petition, as well as the Friends of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre for their role in ensuring young minds in this province are being nourished with facts, not fiction; and education— not indoctrination.
WELL DONE, REBEL, and well done, Faith Goldy. All of you do us proud every day by respecting us enough to report the truth. None of the mainstream media sources do that which is why I never watch, listen to or read them.
But more precisely to the topic, good work Faith.
The original offending quote did NOT accuse the State of Israel of using child soldiers. It merely implied Israeli territory was a theatre of conflict wherein child soldiers (Palestinians) had been used. The quote also listed Colombia. The Government of Colombia does not use child soldiers however anti-government rebels operating within their borders did. Same scenario.
The “confusion” caused by the quote resulted from certain journalists not having grade 6 level literacy; a truly scandalous indictment of our educational system.
So Faith did win a victory over an SJW false allegation.
I became very interested in boy soldiers as a result of what happened in Cambodia to buddhists.
Basically there are two kinds of boy soldier (girls get recruited too)….there is the kind that are like the sons of Mel Gibson in “the Patriot” who …no matter how frightened they might feel….just simply are not going to let that arrogant son of a bitch hang their brother without a fight.
And then there are the ’jannissaries"…boys conscripted by abduction and drugged, brainwashed, and indoctrinated into becoming remorseless killers.
And it is good that Faith defended the land of her faith against slander.
But the truth is that Israel did indeed use boy soldiers….just not lately…
Imagine a teenaged boy assigned to tend a flock of sheep…out in the middle of nowhere…with no cell phone or ipad….just a harp and a sling….leave a teenaged boy in that situation and the boredom will motivate him to become good at one or both. His songs have inspired soldiers for centuries and he had unshakable confidence because he fended off wolves and lions from the sheep with his weapon.
Oh yes, the boundry and scope of Israel was defined by a boy soldier.
" This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel."….David ben Jesse, in response to challenge at the battle of Whadi Elah
- Ronald Reagan
Has Nelson issued a statement of what will be sent to School Boards and individual schools so textbooks can be amended in order to exclude the falsehood?
