Suicide and social media: Could this counterintuitive idea improve mental health?

Is it any coincidence that the jump in U.S. suicide rates coincides with the rise in social media?

I don't think that quitting Facebook, Twitter and Instagram all together is the answer. My actual suggestion might surprise you...

It’s a great idea Amanda, and your comments are spot on. I would suggest taking it a step further and opting out of social media altogether. Not only has it been shown to be dangerous for kids and young people, in addition to the link with depression it is an addictive behaviour that results in distraction, time-wasting and inability to focus on what is really important in life.
