It's been a little while since I’ve brought you news on the Vancouver School Board, the firing of the entire slate of elected trustees, and the subsequent news surrounding the bullying of school board staff by some of those now dismissed trustees. But with the NDP set to potentially take power backed by the Green Party soon here in BC, one of their election promises was to re-instate the trustees. Not much of a surprise, if you recall 4 of the dismissed trustee’s belong to the Vision Vancouver municipal political party who are an ideological match with the NDP with their contempt for independent and private schools for instance.
But with the anticipation that these trustees could be getting their jobs back soon there have been a couple of pieces of news, that will only reinforce my belief that it was the Vision Vancouver Trustee’s in particular that were the people committing the bullying and creating the toxic workplace, remember 6 senior staff went on leave due to the bullying and toxicity. First news the Superintendent Scott Robinson resigned yesterday citing the aforementioned toxic workplace and bullying under the previous administration. Yesterday Diane Turner also told reporters that the staff working at the Vancouver School Board are fearing the return of the trustees.
Watch as I explain why this situation is untenable and that John Horgan has a choice should he become Premier, call a by-election and let the people of Vancouver decide the fate of the trustee's should they run again. Also, we should have more news soon as we have paid a fee for an FOI with the school board for more information including internal communications that have to do with the external reports that were issued on the toxic workplace.
