Taiwan: Two women face off in the presidential election

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

China expert Dr. Charles Burton is back, this time to talk about Taiwan, the little democracy right next to the communist dictatorship of China.

Burton talks about that country's forthcoming election, in which both candidates are women. (This is a contrast to the situation in mainland China, where very few women are political leaders.)

As well, they discuss whether or not Taiwan will ever integrate with the mainland.

Maybe Canada is fed up with accommodating YOU and your never ending Cultural Demands. Sometimes we get tired.

I hope Taiwan can stay the modern democratic society it is today." Economic activities with China, without integration to the mainland". Once tasting the sweetness of freedom and equal opportunity, I’m sure giving any of it up is not an option.

So, what is our problem, that we have taken for granted our freedom, and allowed communism to come knocking at our door again?

Heh, my husband leaves for a business trip to Taiwan in one hour! He has been there many times and likes it much better than Shanghai. But the air is polluted and the roads are jammed. Their national dish is a beef noodle soup that is really quite good.
