Port Coquitlam’s Masjid Alhidayah and Islamic Cultural Centre is in the news again and as our previous reporting shows, when this BC mosque makes the news, it’s never a good thing.
In May former Imam Saladin Baar, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for sexually assaulting a female member of the mosque who had confided in him.
In September, it was revealed that a Canada Revenue Agency audit determined the same Imam had claimed at least $127,000 in questionable expenses, and most shockingly, was linked to the Qatari Eid Foundation – a known financier of terrorism with ties to Hamas militants.
Despite this, the CRA and our federal government responded by issuing the mosque a $9,000 fine, but din’t revoke the Islamic society's charitable status.
And this week, the federal government granted the mosque and Islamic society $53K as part of a Ministry of Public Safety program to improve security of communities at risk of hate motivated crimes!!!
Watch as I fill you in on the whole story, which doesn’t include any word from the government on the threats British Columbians might face due to this Islamic Society’s links to the Qatar-based, Hamas-front group, Eid Foundation.
But, should we really expect anything else from our virtue signalling federal Liberals?
Is Justin Trudeau putting Canadians — including fellow Muslim-Canadians — at risk in order to pander to the Muslim community for votes?
There’s no evidence of a growing threat of Islamophobia in Canada but there is an uptick in Mosques preaching anti-Semitism.
If this Islamic Society or any mosque was in fact a target of hate crimes, the measures would be understandable.
But in the aftermath of the sentencing of the former Imam for sexual crimes and revelations from the CRA audit showing terror ties, it seems awfully brazen of the government to suggest there’s ”nothing to see here".
