The kind of GUN BAN Matt Damon wants will make you forget about seeing Jason Bourne

StaffRebel Columnist

Action star Matt Damon, who has made millions starring in films with guns, wants to ban yours.

According to Breitbart, the star of action films such as The Departed, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Jason Bourne wants an Australia-style gun ban in the United States.

While promoting his latest film in Sydney, Australia, Damon praised Australia's gun ban, which was introduced in the 1990s.

“You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly. We just can’t,” the A-list celebrity said.

He then rambled on about mass shootings saying, “Obviously mass shootings aren’t going to do it. There have been so many of them at this point. Sandy Hook, when those children were murdered, if that didn’t do it, you know, I just don’t know. Maybe we just need to evolve further before we can have that conversation, I don’t know.”

Evolve further? Clearly Damon isn't familiar with what gun violence in the United States is really like, with red states having far less gun crime.

He went on to call Australia's ban "sensible," but admits that he won't see any such move to ban firearms in his lifetime.

Damon is the latest hypocritical celebrity to call for a ban on guns while relying on them for his action films to make money. We previously called out Liam Neeson for his views on guns.

So, will Matt Damon donate all the money he has made as a result of guns to charity? We didn't think so.

Jay , Australia has a higher Anglo Saxon ethnicity rate then does USA or Canada
These are important points to think about

Jay Kelly Canada has lots of gun control and bans lots of guns, how is it a good thing if it does not work or makes for more crime of other sorts , you do not need a gun to kill.

Michael Mann when he does away with armed security let me know.

Australia has a ‘murder by gun’ rate of 0.2 per 100,000 people. Perhaps Canadians should not be so smug. Our rate is more than double that, at 0.5. In the United States, even with all their fanaticism around gun ownership, they have only 16 times the gun murder rate of Australia, at 3.2 per 100, 000.

Michael Mann
A big part of the problem society faces is that too many of you worship at the alter of celebrity..Damon is just another hack actor who believes his own hype and feels that he is better than us plebes…don’t for a second believe that HE gives that money away..it is all done by his PR people to keep him in the spotlight..he is just another hollywood moron

Rae – the most glaring incredulity in Damon’s pious anti-gun crusading, is the fact here is a man who has literally made his fortune portraying the very guns and guts blood soaked violence which he rails against – pretty flexible moral convictions to say the least. – Not to mention his big screen mega movie shoot-em-all gore fests probably act as triggers for weak minded copy cats who act out these fantasies in real mass shootings.

“Australia hasn’t had a mass shooting since 1996”.
Say what?
This from comments below this article http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2015/06/australia-hasnt-had-a-mass-shooting-since-1996/
Funny how the the author doesn’t count the following as mass shootings. And they all occurred after 1996
Monash University Shooting – 2002
Hectorville Siege – 2011
Hunt Family Murders – 2014

Not to mention the higher number of mass murder by means other than a firearm
Snowtown Murders – 1992 – 1999
Childers Palace Backpackers fire – 2000
Churchill Fire – 2009
Lin Family Murders – 2009
Quakers Hill Nursing Home Fire – 2011
Cairns Child Killings – 2014

add onto that the cafe mass shooting Dec. 2014.

Please tell me how this is the religion of peace and why we should embrace it as part of a cultural diversity.
We must reject it as a cultural perversity.
Note how the other religions carried out acts of terror!
Muslims often insist that other religions are just as violent as theirs and that the bigger problem is “Islamophobia”.
We put that narrative to the test each Ramadan with a running count of ALL terror attacks categorized by motive.

Motive – Terror in the name of Islam………………..Attacks = 229…..….Kills = 1723
Motive – All other religions combined …………….Attacks = 0…………Kills = 0
Motive – By Islamophobes…………………………….Attacks = 0…………Kills = 0

There must be a certain EUREKA ! moment for rich ,vacuous celebrities when they suddenly realize that people actually value their opinion. Then they go crazy -and say really stupid things and they get away with it. Take Justin for example. He became PM of Canada.

Stephen E – I saw the same reports some years ago – the 96 Aussi gun ban has been resurrected by all the usual camp followers of Obama globalism – Damon one of the most vocal Obama sycophants – but the resurrecting of the Austrailian 96 gun ban can’t disguise the fact that it was a failure in its stated goals – to reduce gun crime.

The Australian 1996 National Agreement on Firearms was not a benign set of commonsense gun-control rules: It was a gun-confiscation program rushed through the Australian parliament just twelve days on a wave of media hysteria after a mad man killed 35 people with a semi-automatic rifle Port Arthur.

Did the Australian model at least reduce gun-related homicides? That is hotly disputed by Australians themselves. University of Melbourne researchers concluded their 2008 report on the matter by stating: “There is little evidence to suggest that [the Australian mandatory gun-buyback program had any significant effects on firearm homicides.”

A research paper published in the Justice Policy Journal specifically examining the question of whether or not gun control reduced mass shootings in Australia reads as follows:
“The current paper examines the incidence of mass shootings in Australia and New Zealand (a country that is socioeconomically similar to Australia, but with a different approach to firearms regulation) over a 30 year period. It does not find support for the hypothesis that Australia’s prohibition of certain types of firearms has prevented mass shootings, with New Zealand not experiencing a mass shooting since 1997 despite the availability in that country of firearms banned in Australia.“

Makes sense since the empirical evidence shows Australia, like Canada, had been in an established long term decline in firearms death which was established before Port Arthur. Which pretty much negated the intended purpose of the ban. The Ban was all optics and no substance and represents the very worst in deceptive public policy making.

But hey, if that moral paragon Matt Damon sez it’s kewel, we can’t allow reason and fact to interfere with a fraudulent appeal to emotion – isn’t that what actors do for a living anyway?

Removed for violating rule:Be civil. No personal attacks.

What about the shootings and hostage takings in Sydney just before last Christmas? A few guns in the hands of the civilians involved could have saved many lives and injuries. The ban didn’t stop the two Islamist shooters from getting their hands on guns. The ban just made the murdered sitting ducks unable to defend themselves.

moral posers is right!

Mannie wrong again. Damion is scum because he is a hypocrite, just like his boy scout buddy Ben Affleck. When will these Hollywood types learn that the public doesn’t want to hear their opinions on the real world. It gets in the way of any viewing pleasure. Totally turned off by these two and as a consequence can’t watch. Same with, especially with decapitated DiCaprio. When they have convinced me that the crims can’t get access to any illegal fire arms I’ll consider giving up mine.

By the way, has it not occurred to these hypocrites, using Sandy Hook as an example, that had there been other guns carried by Admin in the school the gunman would have been shot dead before he did all that damage? It could have saved most if not all of those little school children from being massacred .

Wasn’t there a mass murder with guns in Tasmania a few years ago? Tasmania is part of Australia?

The “ban” actually reduced ownership from 7% to 5%.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2974487/posts has the stats showing an increase in knife crime, violent crime and robbery.

Countrywide, homicides are up 3.2 percent;
Assaults are up 8.6 percent;
Amazingly, armed robberies have climbed nearly 45 percent;
In the Australian state of Victoria, gun homicides have climbed 300 percent;
In the 25 years before the gun bans, crime in Australia had been dropping steadily;
There has been a reported “dramatic increase” in home burglaries and assaults on the elderly.

When dear Matt goes anywhere, will he tell his armed security to leave their guns and weapons behind and simply throw their bodies in front of assailants? Doubtful. And if he did make such a demand upon them, I’m quite certain that they would quit or, at the least, move aside when an attacker shows up.

As with most of the Hollywood gang, talk is cheap so there is a lot of it to go around. Unfortunately, Baby Doc Trudeau relies on movie stars and rock stars as his “experts” for policy decisions.

Damon seems to be knowlegeable about every subject on the planet. Guns , crime, fracking, Global warming . Yeppir , he is a real mastermind. Notice how these actors go on all the late night shows or venues where they spout off their brilliance and opinions,but they are never exposed to a real debate with someone that can challenge their beliefs.
Can you imagine this fool debating someone like Mark Steyn on all the subjects Damon bloviates on. People like him need to be challenged. And they need to feel our contempt at the box office by panning his crappy movies.

Because someone has an ability to do something, does not mean they’re in fact intelligent, in this case Matt Daemon, the actor.

I don’t know why anyone would listen to any of these celebrity hypocrites. Along with promoting gun violence in his movies he probably has a gun packing security detail following him around. It’s the same as with all the climate change celebrities telling everyone to stop using fossil fuels all the while jet setting around the world travelling to all their million dollar mansions. Do as I say not as I do. I say shove it up your ass you self indulgent egotistical hypocrites.

Maybe you dumb fucks should actually know what you are talking about – Matt Damon has done amazing things for charity, has helped millions of people through various causes and has completely given back. But has a view on guns that you don’t agree with and he’s scum to you.
