Ellen DeGeneres is defending herself after being called a racist for tweeting a photoshopped image of her riding piggy-back style on Usain Bolt.
The famous original image, taken during Bolt's semi-final win at the Olympics has been called the opposite of the “crying Jordan”.
“This is how I'm running errands from now on,” DeGeneres tweeted along with the photoshopped edit. No where was race (no pun intended) mentioned.
One easily-offended user responded by saying, “so the first thing that pops in your head when looking at this pic is "oh let me jump onto his back like he's a common mule?”
Another said, “If I ignored US history & current climate of police lynching us, this "joke" would be hilarious.”
In defense, Ellen responded by saying “I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country. It is the furthest thing from who I am.”
