This actor's “thoughts and prayers” for Kevin Smith triggered Twitter atheists

Amanda HeadRebel Contributor

We live in a day and age when offering thoughts and prayers to someone in crisis opens you up to a deluge of criticism.

The latest? Actor (and Christian) Chris Pratt tweeted words of encouragement to Kevin Smith after the director suffered a massive heart attack — leading to a rabid reaction on social media.

Vincent we are not extreme or bigoted or racist , so stick your hate speech.
commented 2018-03-01 01:14:16 -0500
Vincent sorry you are WRONG! Pictures of nudity do not make it legal.

You thinking I am an asshole doesn’t negate my point at all or the fact that The Rebel caters to extreme conservatives, who happen to racist, bigoted and homophobic.

It’s who you all are – own it.

I don’t know Kevin Smith. Pratt could have easily reached out personally to Smith. Not do something as sterile as sending thoughts and prayers on Twitter.
commented 2018-02-28 18:51:38 -0500
Vinny, why mention Parkland when the report is about Kevin Smith who fell ill and Chris Pratt’s heartfelt message to him and a request for prayers; followed by angry Twitter mob, a mob which you seem to support.

Are we to understand your flowers and get well card have already been delivered to Kevin Smith?!!!

You really should check out your own comments on this platform under your various pseudonyms to see what a bigot really thinks. It will take you several months to sift through your garbage posts.

Like I said, Vincent, you’re just an asshole, that’s all…. totally irreverent and insignificant
commented 2018-02-28 17:43:34 -0500
The comments on The Rebel confirm that. It’s there in black and white. You would have to be an idiot not to recognize that.

See the problem with racists, bigots and homophobes is that they will never admit that they are that, but yet you seem to expect them to, which is ridiculous. People here are going to deny deny deny, what is obviously the truth.

I gave money to the Parkland victims. How about you? Just send thoughts and prayers?
commented 2018-02-28 17:21:41 -0500
Of course you’re right, Vincent. We’re all bigoted racists and you’re the only sane intelligent one. How do we know that? because you said so, and you’re so brilliant and enlightened. I’m glad to know that you’ve already sent a great big cheque. You did, didn’t you?
commented 2018-02-28 15:03:27 -0500
Nudity is not illegal at Mardi Gras – that is why there are endless photos online of men and women getting naked at Mardi Gras, so you are wrong. AGAIN.

I have no problem with you believing in God, but if people are in trouble in some capacity, your thoughts and prayers are going to do fuck all. How about you send a cheque instead.
commented 2018-02-28 14:59:29 -0500
Well you see that’s the problem at The Rebel. You can’t truly have a reasonable or rational debate here, because people here are so brainwashed by the extreme right mentality as opposed to a center right view, that anyone with any kind of opposing view practically has no choice, but to call a spade a spade.

We live in a world where there are racist, bigoted and homophobic people – that is reality and some of those people are Rebel members.

I don’t know how long you have been here, but reasonable conservatives left this place a long time ago for the exact reasons that I am talking about. They couldn’t be bothered to deal with those racist, bigoted, homophobic and hateful extreme conservatives. I decided to stay. You are fooling yourself if you think The Rebel is just a place for everyday reasonable and rational conservatives to have intelligent discussion and debate.

In the left’s race to claim the ultimate victimhood status, who takes home the gold medal, silver medal and bronze medal:
Black lesbian in a wheelchair, pushed by her Latino girlfriend.
Muslim gay man who supports some elements of Sharia Law.
Gender dysphoric man who regrets having his penis lopped off.

Yes I am a sadist for pointing out how people like you are racist, bigoted and homophobic, because that’s exactly what you are.
The truth hurts.
Name calling, that’s your argument?
What are you, like six years old! LOL.
What a loser…
commented 2018-02-28 05:50:33 -0500
Vincent, you don’t debate. A debate is a formal discussion on a particular topic in which opposing arguments are put forward, and the merits of the two opposing positions are evaluated, with the view of identifying and adopting the superior argument. All you do is make rude insulting comments about the people who contribute articles here and the rest of us who post comments about those articles. In short, you’re a complete ass hole. Mind you, I fully support your right to be a complete ass hole, but that’s all you are.

Vincent what makes them so Special anyways?
commented 2018-02-28 02:00:38 -0500
Vincent sorry but what the hell makes them so SPECIAL??
commented 2018-02-28 01:57:45 -0500
Vincent in your own words-A reasonable compassionate human being views a gay person like another minority. They exist, they deserve rights, they deserve support, they deserve to be championed, they deserve to be accepted and they deserve respect.
So why not for those who believe in God? And nudity is illegal at Mardi Gras. And some people being allowed to do something that others are not is a DOUBLE STANDARD!!
commented 2018-02-28 01:52:23 -0500
Vincent has their never been a difficult time in your life where you just had faith that things would work out and they did? Not a religious faith , but a general faith? Religious or not , people who trust in faith tend to live longer happier lives, no matter if it is secular or religious. It is a strength.
commented 2018-02-28 01:49:29 -0500
Vincent if it means nothing then why do so many progressives get all upset when someone says it? Tel them that. And it means lots to some people if not you, and it means way more than left wing virtue signalling.

Internet trolls were found to exhibit three major ‘dark’ psychological traits.
Sadism: A personality disorder in which an individual derives pleasure from the suffering of others.
Narcissism: Involves an obsessive interest in your own appearance, extreme selfishness and a craving to be admired by others.
Psychopathy: A complex spectrum disorder which typically includes a lack of empathy or remorse as well as antisocial behaviour…”

Does it have to be any more complicated than just simply liking to debate people? I don’t want to be surrounded by people who agree with me and neither should you. THAT is a waste of our time.
commented 2018-02-28 00:30:15 -0500
Vincent, I don’t for one minute dispute your right to post your comments here. In fact, I would be one of the first ones to absolutely defend your right to post here. I’m just curious as to why you would WANT to. It seems so illogical to me. I frequently visit leftist websites, like Theyoungturks.com or the Huffington Post just to keep up on the other side of the issues, but I never feel the need to post comments on those sites because it wouldn’t resolve anything or change anyone’s mind. They’re entitled to their views and I don’t feel I have to stroke my own ego by getting into a war of words that accomplishes nothing. I’m sure you know in your heart of hearts that your posts here accomplish absolutely nothing as well. If no one is taking you seriously, why bother. By the way, I don’t feel the least bit challenged by your contributions. and I’m sure no one else does either. And with regards to your criticism of Chris Pratt, I assumed that you’ve sent money, cards, flowers, gone to visit him in the hospital and gone to give comfort and solace to his family and friends???

Fellow Rebels, it’s not wise to cast pearls before swine.
commented 2018-02-27 20:27:57 -0500
I contribute objectivity and a different view. I understand though that you want to be surrounded by people who share your opinion on everything. It’s so much easier to never be challenged.

Having said that, sending thoughts and prayers is literally the least a person can do. It means you don’t actually give a shit to actually DO something. You might as well be sending a twitter #.

Mr. Asswad, What did you think of Amanda’s report?
commented 2018-02-27 16:25:02 -0500
Ben Davies missing from side bar. Another one bite the dust.

I’m sure the Twitter rage machine would have been silent if Chris Pratt had sent prayers as a Buddhist, Hindu, Jew etc….
Had it been an Islamic prayer, well, he would received much praise and understanding by authoritarian leftists!
Anti-Christian bigotry is absolutely fine in the realm of so-called progressives. Sad state of affairs!
commented 2018-02-27 14:49:11 -0500
Vincent Cassini, why don’t you just leave? You contribute absolutely nothing…. and it’s obvious that you disagree with everything this websites stands for anyway. I’m sure you’d be much happier posting on one of those Marxist-Atheist websites anyway. People are generally happier with their own kind, I’m sure you would be too.
commented 2018-02-27 14:37:23 -0500
The peace that passes all understanding through faith in God, the one true God, the God of Israel. Prayer is an essential act of faith, and we are to pray without ceasing!
commented 2018-02-27 14:24:19 -0500
Let’s be honest – sending “thoughts and prayers” is meaningless bullshit. It’s the very least thing you can do.
