This video of Rob Ford exposing Toronto Councillors' free perks shows how much he cared about taxpayers

StaffRebel Columnist

While it's no secret that Rob Ford truly cared about taxpayers, a video of him exposing the 'free perks' Toronto Councillors' receive is a microcosm of what he stood for.

The video was uploaded to Facebook shortly after Ford's death by Sajan van Sandall.

In the description Sandall wrote, “Nobody was more honest than Rob Ford in our Government. Watch as Rob Ford exposes the free perks handed to Councillors which were paid by Taxpayers! RIP.”

The video was shared over 2300 times and has been viewed over 4,000,000 times.

Will the city of Toronto ever have another mayor like Rob Ford?

Isn’t it interesting how all of those who preach that conservatism doesn’t work in Canada, or that we are a nation that leans to the left will never acknowledge the fact that the biggest conservative movement this nation has recently seen took place in the bastion of liberalism called Toronto?
While we know how that ended, I rather concentrate on how it started, there was a reason thousands turned out to pay their respects.

It’s no wonder people are cynical about politicians. They’re not all the same to be sure but gee whiz how can we not be when someone gives us the facts.
Rob Ford, you had your faults like we all do, but you were respectful of the taxpayer. RIP

To be fair, any video of Rob Ford exposing a few thousand dollars in perks should be accompanied by the infamous “Matlow Ford Scarborough LRT” video (Google it) where Ford keeps insisting that the offroad and elevated Scarborough LRT would “rip up our streets” and “run down the middle of the road”, a complete lie Ford used to justify his wasting several billion dollars of taxpayer money on a subway that official numbers show would run half-empty for generations, when the LRT, running offroad and at no cost to the city, would have effortlessly handled ridership for decades.

That’s our Rob: rightfully fighting the thousand-dollar battles, then turning around and wasting billions.

Pure populist empathy with the tax slave, no “us ’n them” about this man – Rob could have been a great PM with some organization behind him, when I see what we lost in Rob Ford and what we gained in Ottawa, I’m gad I’m not a dogmatic Christian, otherwise I’d get the impression God was playing a mean prank on Canadians

He had plenty of faults but corruption was not one of them. RIP.

I miss him already. Toronto city counsel is the dirtiest in the land.

Entitled lefties in control. Why is anyone surprised!

No wonder why they were trying to get rid of him by destroying his reputation and pushing him out of the picture. The stress he must have experienced. It is a terrible thing people go through when ‘they’ are trying to get rid of you. Poor Rob.

the unbelievable corruption of a very limited few who are meant to serve you seem to be only serving themselves to seconds.

he would have made a good premier for Alberta.

The one thing that would really have topped it off is if on camera he cut them up and threw them away.

Now I can see why the “entitled to their entitlements” socialists on the Toronto city counsel and all their media friends hated Rob Ford so much. Rob Ford was a good man and if there is is one thing the socialists cannot stand is honesty.
