Threats of violence make playground's proximity to Camp Cloud worrisome

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

We’re standing in a kids park in a neighbourhood directly adjacent to the Kinder Morgan protest site.

It looks like they’re expanding this park for the children of the neighbourhood but the real shame is that it backs onto a field where just over the hill is the Camp Cloud protest site.

This is worrisome considering that protesters have threatened an Oka-like scenario towards the police if they are evicted.

Threats of violence and incendiary rhetoric are exactly what lead to the escalation of tensions at Camp Ipperwash and the ultimate demise of Dudley George. At one point shots were fired at a National Defense helicopter resulting in the closure of the airspace over the former Army Training Facilities. Threats of violence have to be taken seriously and allowing this situation to continue to fester can only lead to big trouble.
We either enforce the law or we don’t. Its that plain and simple.

Violence begets violence and when it comes to the kids, the protesters will probably bite off more than they can chew. Just my guess

I just completed a Vancouver Sun (Left-Center Newspaper) Survey asking if the camp should be shut down. At the time 11,000 had voted and 94.2% wanted it shut down.
