The war against Israel: BDS, “the Silent Intifada” — and the media's deadly role

Tiffany GabbayRebel Staff

Though there are many who would shout in defiance at such a statement, there is really no such thing as a “Palestinian” people. In fact, the term is a relatively new invention – intended as a tool to advance the destruction of Israel.

Think I’m making this up?

The so-called “Palestinians” were referred to as simply "Arabs" until 1967. The name was created by Palestinian Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat under the guidance of Russian propagandists in the KGB.

I'll show you.

This means the very "reason" so much of the world hates Israel is based on a lie.

Tonight we'll look at the latest attacks on Israel, in the form of boycotts from without, and the so-called “Knife Intifada” from within.

And in all cases, the mainstream media is complicit in spreading fatal misinformation about what's going on.

My first guest, Gary Kenzer, is an expert in exposing media bias against Israel, and serves as North American Executive Director for Honest Reporting.com.

My next guest, Paul Miller, serves as Director of the Haym Salomon Center, an educational group that offers commentary and analysis on news the mainstream media ignores.

WATCH tonight to get the real story.

This article Troubles me I have been researching about it since I saw it. I have multiple atlases one from 1897 and one from 1931 that Clearly show Palestine as a District, State, Province, or Constituency of Turkey or the Ottoman Empire. I’m not an Anti-Semite and I’m definitely not Pro-Palestinian either. Both are Abhorrently Violent. I believe Religion is of man, a human cannot fathom the infinity and immaculateness of Creation. My great grandmother however was Jewish, I believe in seeking the truth and this simply doesn’t close off the enough loose ends. I asked my Grandmother (1931) and she said that the people in the Ottoman Empire were always referred to as “Arabs” kind of like People from other Countries refer to us as Canadians, not Albertans. However I wonder what the Blackfoot would say about that? If we stuck all the American Indians back in Sask, Alberta and B.C then declared them in their own country, and left the Europeans descendants living there, cut off from the rest of Canada, Would we be considered The Albertan people?

Peter Babich, good post. Absolutely right, if Israel stopped defending themselves and their borders they would be wiped out by Hamas foot soldiers, the ‘Palestinian’ people. A people brought up from birth to hate and kill Jews. Men, women and children with one reason to live, to eliminate Jews and Israel once and for all.
There is only one kind of person who defends ‘Palestine’ for it’s actions, and they are anti-Semitics who would cheer Israel’s demise.
It makes me sick to see Canadians taking up the latest ‘fashionable’ stance at the expense of logic and decency. Arabs in Gaza and the West Bank don’t want peace, they want death.
Never again means never again, and there is no way Israel is going down. Even Trudeau’s wishy washy kumbiah attitude will make no difference. Israel has the means and will defend itself.
Palestinians are the useful idiots of Hamas, a well documented terrorist group.

I normally keep my comments 1 or 2 lines. I’m not as eloquent as other subscribers Good journalism. Much information I have been seeking for me and for others. I know in my heart and soul, if Palestine lays down their weapons there will be peace. If Israel lays down their weapons they will be killed. I agree that the contributions for humanity Israel has made compared to Islam are insurmountable. I digress. Your dress seemed to be moving standing still. Great show, all things considered.

“If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” Adolf Hitler

Some of the ridiculous things being stated, about the Jewish people today, are reminiscent of some of the statements used to vilify the opposite sides armys in World War I. No doubt, there were many atrocities that were real, many were so outlandish that they could be dispelled by anybody who took some time, thought about it. THIS IS AS TRUE TODAY AS IT WAS THEN.

Not many commenters here have actually lived in Israel – I have. I lived in Tiberias from 2008 – 2011.

The fact is “Palestinian territories” is a made up term.

As is “Palestinian”

When Gaza was turned over to the arabs, there were to be elections in the new arab community.

Hamas went around and shot anyone who would not drop out of the elections and therefore became the naturally ruling party.

Arabs do not want peace – they would bypass peace for the destruction of Israel.

There are no good arabs.

Once when offered territory and peace – or cash and peace – their leader at that time – Arafat – decided the money was better than peace.

It is all there – the rabid anti-jewish fervor out there in the hinterlands of the western world is only because no one will print and tell the truth – other than the second line media – which does not get the attention it needs.

The state controlled canadallah media outlet of cbc is actually one of the worst in the world in my personal opinion – and entitled, arrogant, spoiled, elitist and smug canadallah residents seem to worship that media outlet – even as it spreads rumours and lies.

No wonder so many people in the world are actually beginning to despise people from canadallah

When Paul Miller talked about musicians like Santana and Elton John going to Israel to perform, I note that he did not mention Neil Young. I wonder why the second guitarist and back-up singer of Crosbey, Stills and Nash may not be one of these musicians. After all, he is all for indigenous people, like Suzuki, provided it does not impinge upon his wealth, like Suzuki.

Again, like Suzuki, it is interesting how a back up musician who received his fame through Can-Con rules is worth as much as he is. He is against Canadian resource development, notably oil and gas. Finally like Suzuki, who else is he back up singer for?

This is the one where Dovid Weiss debating a Zionist.

The clip below shows Dovid Feldman debating a Zionist as well. This anti-Zionist movement is truly a peace movement unlike the state of Israel and those supporting them.

And yes, Nadine, Rabbis speak out against Israel such as Dovid Feldman and Dovid Weiss. They are against Israel’s brutality and the warlike nature of the state of Israel. Do not forget that Israel encouraged the US to launch Iraq based on a tower of lies because of Hussein’s aid to Palestinians. This Orthodox Jewish movement regularly speaks out against the nationalist and the hatred that Israel commits against Palestinians. And the fact is Jews and Arabs lived side by side in the Palestinian territories prior to the creation of the state of Israel. This is well-documented by Dovid Feldman and Dovid Weiss and the anti-Zionist Jews.

This group regularly protests the wars, the Zionist movement and the state of Israel because they are all linked.

They suggest and I agree with them that the state of Israel should not exist because under Torah law God wanted the Jewish people to live in all nations rather than have a Jewish nation because God never wanted it, and such a nation would be false and against God. They also suggest and I agree that it would divide peoples around the world along religious lines and probably lead to a clash of civilizations, and the people that support Israel are mostly Christian fundamentalists that want war with all Muslims and the Zionist Jews with them. This Israel project and the War on Terror is a clash of civilizations project, a pro-Israel and Greater Israel project, and a project for distracting us and leading to tensions within Western nations.

The peaceful Jewish movement appears to be on the Orthodox Jewish side that wants peace and to link arms with all Muslims and Arabs and try to have justice for Palestinians. They are 100% correct in that notion.

This clip shows Dovid Weiss debating a Zionist warmonger on Press TV.

Do not forget Nadine that the media always wants to paint Israel in the best light even though they have committed all of these atrocities and the US has to constantly veto resolutions against Israel. Also, it is obvious from maps that Israel has been occupying Palestinian lands since 1948 to now and maps do show that Palestine has been shrinking to the point of it being impossible to create a viable Palestinian state. These people on the Rebel and virtually the entire media fail to realize that the King David Hotel issue in 1946 was the issue that gave birth to the state of Israel.

Israel had militia groups which formed the state of Israel, and this has always been part and parcel of the Israeli state. The Israeli government encourages settlers to attack Palestinians and the Israeli government gives them a free pass to do so. And these settlers come from other nations. That should be mentioned, but no one does research in the media or else they would be painted as anti-Semitic when people should truly know what is going on and what has happened for 68 years.

By Andrew Cohen speaking about Rabbi Adam Scheier of Congregation Shaar Hashomayim in Montreal, Quebec, Canada:

But the danger for Rabbi Scheier and his fellow travelers is to think that all Canadian Jews — even a strong majority — see the government of Israel and its policies with the same unquestioning reverence as Prime Minister Harper. More likely, the community is divided.

It is hard to know because the debate is subdued, if not suffocated, in Canada. Increasingly, Jews who challenge the orthodoxy of Benjamin Netanyahu’s Israel — though they may be no less observant and Zionist — are called “anti-Semites” and “self-hating Jews” by their co-religionists.

Shaul set up Breaking the Silence in 2004 after serving in the Israeli army as a combat soldier and commander in the West Bank.

“It was the realisation that people back home in Israel have no clue; our society has no idea. Our slogan was Let’s Bring Hebron to Tel Aviv.”

What began more than a decade ago as an exhibition of photographs and video testimonials from occupied zones has turned into an internationally recognised movement focused on “raising a mirror in front of our society to take moral and civil responsibility for what is being done in our names. The goal is very simple. We’re a bunch of veterans who believe our army should be an army of defence and not an army occupation. I think the occupation is destroying the morality of the IDF” – Israel Defence Forces – “and of Israeli society.”

A Jewish Israeli Canadian speaks out strongly against Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories and the institutionalized discrimination against non-Jews within Israel itself:

snip snip: Eventually I concluded I was the equivalent to a white South African but that as an immigrant to Israel I was part of the problem. It was one of the hardest decisions of my life. I loved my life in Israel but I decided that ethically I could not return to it.

I stayed in Canada because I do love living in Toronto -> but that decision came after my decision not to return to Israel.

Famous Canadian Mr. Gabor Mate: “The Harper (and now Justin Trudeau’s Liberal) government has been particularly notorious in international [circles] for its unthinking and automatic and completely immoral backing of Israeli policy. The ethnic cleansing of Palestinians has been going on for decades; it is the longest ongoing ethnic cleansing operation of the past and present centuries.”

Montreal, July 16, 2013 — Margaret Atwood and John Ralston Saul have added their names to a list of 91 writers who have signed an open letter to Israeli and Canadian leaders. The letter asks Israeli leaders to halt the imminent “firing zone” evictions of 1000 Palestinians from the Southern Hebron Hills, and the Prawer Plan for the forced displacement of 20000-70000 Bedouin citizens of Israel from the Negev. Yann Martel (The Life of Pi), Lawrence Hill (The Book of Negroes), Guy Vanderhaeghe (The Englishman’s Boy) , Nino Ricci, Rohinton Mistry and Jane Urquhart are also among the additions to an impressive list of well-known Canadian writers.

Nadine, your overt bias and masked hatred of Israel is deeply delusional and rooted in falsehood and relativistic propaganda. Citing untruthful movies, hollywoodism, Marxists, a severely bent atheist, politically correct academia and media narratives, as credible and reliable sources of truth is laughable and clearly shows your inability to discern truth from falsehood, even when it is slapping you in the face.

If in fact you seek truth, start by viewing the video references in my earlier article below, as well as, the one here.

May I recommend this movie? It was presented at the Oscars in the category I believe of best foreign film:

Movie “The Gatekeepers” is about *six men who individually led Shin Bet* (Israeli’s secret anti-terrorist intelligence) for the last 30 years. Their remarkable consensus and their quite shocking candour are on display in a must-see documentary from an Israeli director.

Bibi Netanyahu represents only 1 faction of Israel, just as Harper represented only a minority of Canadians

Don’t believe me? Would you listen to 950+ disillusioned former Israeli Jewish IDF cops / ex-soldiers?

Radio Interview from @cbcsunday:

CBC Sunday interviews Dana Golan. She’s a former veteran of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). In her new book, she interviews 950+ disillusioned Israeli ex-soldiers who dare to speak openly re Israel apartheid and Israeli Jews illegally occupying Palestinian land.

950+ former Israeli IDF soldiers reveal truths about Israel’s institutionalized practices of intimidation and brutality towards Palestinians in the occupied territories, including night raids and arbitrary arrests unrelated to security, the use of human shields, etc.

HA HA just kidding with that other comment I posted here:

Stephen Hawking joins academic boycott of Israel

Physicist pulls out of conference hosted by president Shimon Peres in protest at treatment of Palestinians

A statement published by the British Committee for the Universities of Palestine with Hawking’s approval described it as “his independent decision to respect the boycott, based upon his knowledge of Palestine, and on the unanimous advice of his own academic contacts there”.

8 Surprising Celebrities Outraged by Israel’s Assault on Gaza
The growing number of stars speaking out signals that mainstream American opinion is shifting on Israel.

Campaign for the Academic Cultural Boycott of Israel, novelist Alice Walker, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd and the Israeli group Boycott! Supporting the Palestinian BDS call from Within.

Contrary to the rhetoric (i.e. outright lies) of Israeli officials & sympathisers, #BDS boycott is not contrary to dialogue.

Hawking’s decision, for example, will mean people are discussing Israeli policies and strategies for ending occupation. That is not atypical – BDS initiatives often encourage a meaningful exchange of views and perspectives.

Boycott has nothing to do with having, or not having, conversations – it is about accountability for, and opposing, basic violations of a people’s rights.

In response to Israel’s large-scale abuses of Palestinian rights, Palestinian Civil Society launched a call for a global campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions of Israel in 2005, modeled on the call by black South Africans for a boycott of apartheid South Africa that helped bring an end to the racist system.

In response, numerous musicians, including Elvis Costello, Santana, The Pixies and others have canceled concerts or refrained from playing in Israel. In May, physicist Stephen Hawking canceled his planned participation in a conference in Israel, responding to Palestinian requests.

BDS is a movement which seeks to single out and isolate Jewish Israel for their Zionist policies enacted to protect its citizens and serves as a means to collectively punish its diverse population.

The BDS movement has often been accused of opposing Israel’s right to exist, as noted by prominent pro-Palestinian activist Norman Finkelstein. BDS has been condemned by all three federal political parties in Canada, and this past week alone, Justin Trudeau, leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, proclaimed it had “no place on Canadian campuses.”

This motion’s proposed divestments catapult McGill backwards by imploring students to see Israel and Palestine as incompatible enemies. Our role as students at a North American university is not to vilify any side but to advocate for dialogue, restorative justice, and ultimately, for peace.
