Time will tell if looming Netflix tax was another Liberal lie

I miss Stephen Harper. Do you remember back to the last election he warned us about the Liberals bringing in a Netflix tax if they were elected?

The media mocked that idea, the Liberals denied it. In fact, during the election Cameron Ahmad, the Liberal Party spokesman, now a PMO spokesman said:

“any suggestion that the Liberal Party supports a Netflix tax is nonsense.”

When a Liberal tells you they won’t tax something, do you believe them?

You see, lots of people are cutting the cord, dumping cable subscription and using online services that aren’t subject to Canada’s broadcast regulator the CRTC, meaning they can’t force these services to kick into the Canadian Media Fund.

It proves what Ronald Reagan said about how the left views taxes: It if moves, tax it; if it keeps moving regulate it; if it stops moving, subsidize it.

The Liberals want to tax a growing and vibrant part of the economy to fund one that is fading.

Elections have consequences friends and Trudeau’s Liberals taxing you to fund their friends in the TV production business is just one of them.

I hate how the government decides what is best for us to watch, and forces us to pay for it, even though I will likely never watch it.

And now all sorts of news media is asking the government for subsidies. No conflict of interest there.

If Gerald Butts nudges Trudeau in this direction, that’s all it would take for him to add this tax…he has mis-spent billions and can’t see a way out of the hole. You watch, at some point he will devise a plan to tax the air we breathe, inhalations can also make money! Exhalations are covered already!

Ain’t going to happen. Besides, it ain’t necessary.

Because the ONLY thing that would unite Canadians coast-to-coast against government predation is the threat of a tax on their leisure activities. You can screw them with carbon taxes, you can flay them with enviro-taxes, and you can absolutely hammer them to death health care premiums, global adjustment charges, sales taxes, HST, provincial and federal income taxes, property taxes, municipal hospitality taxes AND keep lowering the levels of essential services….but whatever you do, DO NOT touch their TVs or cellphones!

Apparently, even Justin isn’t crazy enough to alienate millions of voters with a cash-grab on Netflix.

I hope they do, and make it a real deep thrust up the selfie gen’s glory hole – they voted for Librano Kleptocracy they deserve to get it good and hard, now the taxing of selfie gen toys and amusements ca begin in earnest, just wait ‘till the middle of their marginal employment working lives and Prince Selfie’s deficit taxing takes most of their scrimpy down-economy earnings.

Somewhere down the road, it will dawn on the dimmest generation that picking dilettante PMs off Twitter feed has consequences.

Dirk Kanis—Great name for CBC," The Giant of Fake News". CTV is not far behind CBC, and should pass them before the Federal Election. Remember CTV also relies on Trudeau, as he probably gives them hundreds of millions in Government Advertising. That’s why they rarely criticize the fool.

Drew Wakariuk, the weed smokers who voted Trudeau will be sadly disappointed with what he delivers, once they realize what government dope entails, and who is profiting- well, they will be screaming mad!
The Trudeau solution doesn’t give access to the US. The American government could have denied the PM entry into the US based on his highly publicized admission of using weed when he was a MP, they didn’t and it’s a shame they gave him a pass!

He should de-criminalize instead!

The government will find a way to tax netflix, but they will just have a different name for it. Think of cap and trade instead of carbon tax.

Just call it CBC tax, that is what it really is, a tax to fund our all mighty fake news giant that nobody tunes into anymore.

Tammie just wait until they see how much he charges for weed and how much more the dealers will charge since they can raise their prices and still undercut him. They damn well deserve it.

Q: How can you know if a Liberal is lying?

A: Because it is speaking.

“Liberal MPs call for a broadband internet tax to fund Canadian media?” The only Canadian media I watch is the Rebel. Which does not need funding from the Nanny State.

The liberals have to keep those revenue streams coming in, to pay their cronies off.

I definitely miss Stephen Harper.
He tried warning the Millennials, oh boy, the “streaming tax” will make them cry!
Liberals caught lying again….there will be more to come!
commented 2017-06-15 15:57:31 -0400
That is what you get for voting Liberal Millenials.
commented 2017-06-15 15:42:56 -0400
At least the young people will understand this an maybe change their vote next election.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Taxing my already pricey high speed Internet.

It is incorrectly called a “streaming” tax since high speed Internet is used for much more than just streaming and many people that have high speed Internet do not even stream video.

Watch your phone plans that have data packages go up as well if this tax is inflicted upon us.
