On Tuesday, the Rebel UK team went to Sheffield. We were outside Sheffield Magistrates Court from early in the morning, waiting for 12 men to appear.
These men were aged between 33 and 38, and they are alleged to have been involved in the Rotherham grooming scandal. They were charged with 44 cases of child sexual abuse offences.
There was only one other journalist outside the court building with us. We were there to show you their faces and to make the public aware that the Rotherham scandal is not over. It’s barely even begun.
These men are alleged to have committed these horrible crimes between 1998 and 2003 – and I bet they never thought their day in court was coming. They thought they had just gotten away with it.
But we were there to make them perfectly aware that the people will remember them.
Here are the names of the accused:
Mohammed Imran Ali Akhtar
Salah Ahmed El-Hakam
