4. Pakistani Migrants Arrested For Rape of Young Italian Boy At Railway Station
Two Pakistani migrants were arrested in the Italian city of Brindisi this week after being accused of raping a boy who was waiting for a train at the city’s railway station.
The two men, identified as 29-year-old Rab Nawaz and 28-year-old Ali Imram, have been accused of making sexual advances toward a young man at the train station and forcing him into an alley where they are said to have raped him, Italian newspaper Il Messaggero reports.
The victim was able to call police following the attack but the Pakistani men fled in a nearby car. Police were eventually able to catch up with the pair of migrants, one of whom is living in the country on an expired residence permit, and arrest them. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital due to injuries suffered during the sex attack.
According to investigators, the victim, who has not been identified or given an exact age, said that the men had approached him and he had tried to leave the station but was followed, pushed into an alley and attacked. He also said that he attempted in vain to fight off the pair.
5. Grooming is still rife in Britain: Warning as major report says police gave gangs the “green light” to sexually abuse 700 girls and women - and reveals one attacker would have been BEHEADED in his homeland for his crime
Grooming gangs are still sexually abusing girls and young women across the country despite repeated warnings and prosecutions, a shocking report revealed yesterday.
Efforts to stop the exploitation have been hampered by the authorities’ failure to understand why abusers target vulnerable white girls, the investigation found.
The author of a report into the latest abuse scandal yesterday urged the Government to order a national study into the “cultural influences” on the offenders, predominantly from an “Asian British” background.
The inquiry into gangs who groomed 700 girls and women in the North-East came four years after more than a thousand victims were found to have been abused in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The new report revealed:
The authorities effectively gave grooming gangs the green light to sexually abuse by failing to prosecute, instead locking up victims;
6. Viktor Orbán calls on EU to reimburse Hungary for border security costs
Hungarian prime minister also proposed scheme to increase role of national parliaments in EU decision-making.
Viktor Orbán on Friday called on Brussels to reimburse Hungary for part of the money it spent to secure its borders during the migration crisis.
“We’ve spent over €1 billion on border protection. We’re not only protecting ourselves, but Europe as well. At least half of this sum should be reimbursed,” the Hungarian prime minister said in a video posted to his Facebook page on Friday, ahead of an informal meeting of EU leaders in Brussels.
Orbán also said he would hit back against several “completely absurd proposals on the table,” including “taking migrants into consideration during the distribution of parliamentary seats in the European Parliament.”
Orbán, who has been a vocal opponent of the EU’s migration policy and has refused to take in refugees, said he would not support the idea because “the European Union belongs to Europeans and European citizens.”
7. Swiss Islamic Council Justifies Female Genital Mutilation
The Islamic Central Council of Switzerland (IZRS) has defended the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM), claiming that Islamic law justifies the practice.
The organisation released an “Islamic legal opinion” this week arguing that a form of so-called “female circumcision”, involving the removal of parts of the genitals, is justified, Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger reports.
IZRS Secretary-General Ferah Uluca said that while the paper justifies the practice, it does not call on Muslims to perform it as a duty. Ulucay said it is up to each parent to decide, but the paper does claim the practice is not harmful to the girl involved.
The paper also uses a United Nations Population Fund report to back its argument comparing FGM to male circumcision — but the report cited states that the health consequences of male and female circumcision are much different.
8. Ottawa Canada: Gay Muslim cooking night serves up encouragement and support
An Ottawa group is giving gay Muslims in the city the chance to find a sense of connection and acceptance by gathering around the dinner table.
Gay Muslims United is hosting a cooking night on Saturday, bringing people together to prepare food and share a meal.
“We want to create this family-like atmosphere,” said Yusuf Celik, the founder of Gay Muslims United.
“The mosques are not welcoming us, our community is not welcoming us, and our families are abandoning us,” he said.
Celik created the group earlier this year to give gay Muslims a voice and provide support, especially for those who live in fear of persecution from family, friends and their culture.
9. No Jail Time for “Frustrated” Asylum Seeker Who Swore to Carry Out Terror Attack Against “White People”
An Afghan who threatened to commit a vehicular terror attack which targeted “white people” because he was frustrated waiting for his refugee status has been spared jail.
Ruzykhan Sayadi, 23, was sentenced to a community order for 18 months, rehabilitation activity for 20 days, and a curfew on Thursday, after being found guilty in late January of racially aggravated intentional harassment and causing alarm or distress, the Oxford Mail reports.
Oxford Crown Court heard that the Afghan had gone to the Citizens Advice Bureau to ask for help because of debt he had accrued when he told an advisor on August 21st, 2017, that he had grown frustrated with waiting to be granted asylum and made threats to commit a vehicular and/or knife attack akin to the Westminster and London Bridge terror attacks.
Sentencing Judge Ian Pringle QC said: “You became more and more frustrated about the situation you were in, the lack of asylum status you had.”
10. ISIS TELLS MUSLIMS TO KIDNAP AND MURDER CHRISTIANS IN RUSSIAN-OCCUPIED AREAS
The Islamic State has urged its followers to kidnap and murder Christians in “Russian-occupied Muslim areas,” according to a letter published by an intelligence group that monitors the terrorist organization’s online communications.
Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan are all Muslim-majority republics in Russia. ISIS says Russian rule there is an occupation.
The letter, titled “Strike Their Necks and Strike Each One of Their Sons,” claims that Russia has intentionally occupied Muslim-majority areas in the Caucasus and Central Asia to convert Muslims to Christianity or forcibly displace them. SITE Intelligence Group published the document Thursday.
