1. UK Proposes Six Year Prison Sentences for Online Posts Against Religion, Transgender
People promoting “hostility” towards a religion or the transgendered online could get much harsher sentences, of up to six years in jail, especial if they have a large online audience according to new proposals.
The Sentencing Council for England and Wales has drafted changes to public order offences, including anyone perceived as targeting online a “protected characteristics” including “race; sex; disability; age; sexual orientation; religion or belief; pregnancy and maternity; and gender reassignment.”
The most severe punishments will be handed to those “in a position of trust, authority or influence and abuses their position to stir up hatred,” such as political leaders or figureheads and anyone whose offences are “persistent.”
If an “offender was a member of, or was associated with, a group promoting hostility based on race or religion,” their sentence will also be harsher.
2. Israel bombs Iranian targets in Syria after missile barrage blamed on Tehran
Some 20 rockets were fired at Israeli military bases by Iranian forces from southern Syria just after midnight on Thursday, sparking the largest ever direct clash between Jerusalem and Tehran, with Israeli jets targeting numerous Iranian-controlled sites across Syria.
The Israeli army said the initial missile barrage was carried out by members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Forces. This appeared to be the first time that Israel attributed an attack directly to Iran, which generally operates through proxies.

9. Germany Announces Family Reunification For Radical Islamic Extremists in “Exceptional Cases”
The German federal grand coalition government has passed a new migrant family reunification law that among other provisions could see Islamic extremists able to bring their families to Germany in “exceptional cases.”
The new law was passed by the grand coalition of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU) and the Social Democrats, on Wednesday. The proposal to allow Islamic extremists to possibly reunite with their families in Germany has fractured the coalition with conservative members heavily criticising the proposal Focus reports.
CDU politician Philipp Amthor criticised the Social Democrats for the proposal saying, “Instead of debating under what circumstances even potential terrorists can assert a claim to family reunification, the SPD would do better to seek solutions to, for example, deport people like the former bodyguard of Osama bin Laden, who has been living in Germany for several years. We should concentrate on such questions.”
10. Mayor Khan Works With European Commission to Launch Pro-Mass Migration Brexit Campaign
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has launched a new initiative, allegedly directly supported by the European Union (EU), which frames Brexit as harmful, as well as a cause of “division” and anti-migrant sentiment.
The “Common Future” event organised by “My Life My Say” (MLMS) was hosted in London City Hall, where the Mayor and London Assembly work, and “wouldn’t be possible” without the support of the European Commission, according to organisers.
According to attendees at the City Hall event on Twitter, the “initiative seeks to address anti-immigrant narrative and the divisions following the Brexit vote.”
