1. Hungarian Airport closed temporarily because of Muslim man
A Muslim foreigner was taken into hospital due to his restless and disturbed behaviour this morning at the Budapest International Airport.
The Airport has been temporarily closed down while experts have examined his bag for explosives, Police.hu reports. According to Police.hu, a foreign passenger was behaving uneasily and disturbed at the check-in point at 9:50 am local time.
The behaviour of the man caught other passengers’ attention instantly as getting out of the taxi, the man was running into the terminal and distancing himself from his bag. His way of acting has awakened anxiety and fear of terrorism both in passengers and authorities: the terminal has been temporarily closed down and emptied until demolition experts examined the bag, but no bombs or explosives were found. The man has eventually been brought to the hospital due to his restless behaviour.
2. “Tedious old racist”: Richard Dawkins under fire for dismissing “aggressive” Muslim prayer
Best-selling atheist author Richard Dawkins has once again been branded “racist” after he tweeted that the sound of cathedral bells is much more pleasant than the “aggressive-sounding Muslim Allahu Akbar.”
The Arabic phrase – which means “Allah is Greatest” – is used by Muslims, usually to express gratitude and commitment to Allah, and it’s sung at the beginning of the call to prayer. It also has negative connotations as a number of terrorists have shouted the words before carrying out attacks.
Dawkins, who has previously faced a barrage of criticism for claiming in a 2013 tweet that Islam is the “greatest force for evil in the world today,” was again accused of Islamophobia on Tuesday morning after sending a provocative tweet:
Listening to the lovely bells of Winchester, one of our great mediaeval cathedrals. So much nicer than the aggressive-sounding “Allahu Akhbar.” Or is that just my cultural upbringing? pic.twitter.com/TpCkq9EGpw— Richard Dawkins (@RichardDawkins) July 16, 2018

Experts testifying before the House Oversight national security subcommittee offered different approaches to address the issue, but agreed the organization, formed in Egypt 90 years ago but with branches across the Middle East and beyond, is a problem.

Mohamed Naddaf pleaded guilty to the criminally negligent manslaughter of Ashlee Brown, 25, who died in their “unkempt and dirty” Craigieburn home in Melbourne's north in November 2016.
Justice John Champion said Ms Brown was found in the passenger seat of the couple's car after having been subjected to a “deliberate and frenzied assault” and tied up with clothesline wire.
The mother of three children under five had been bashed, stabbed, gagged and had her long strawberry blonde hair cut off.

7. Report: Mossad Thwarted Iranian Plot to Bomb Rally in France
The Times of Israel reports: Israel’s Mossad spy agency thwarted a terror attack in a Paris suburb last month, giving authorities in France, Germany, and Belgium crucial intelligence that led to arrests of a cell headed by an Iranian diplomat, Hebrew media reported Thursday.
The cell, headed by an Iranian diplomat at the Austrian embassy in Vienna, also consisted of two Belgian nationals and an alleged accomplice in France. They planned to bomb a June 30 conference organized by an Iranian dissident group, the People’s Mujahedeen of Iran.
About 25,000 people attended the rally in the Paris suburb of Villepinte. The Mossad, in conjunction with their counterparts from Belgium, France, and Germany, led a hunt that crossed several European borders and prevented the bombing, Hadashot news reported, without giving sources.

9. GERMANY: Knifeman with “smoking backpack” leaves 14 hurt in bus rampage
A knifeman “carrying a smouldering backpack” has wounded at least 14 people in a rampage on a packed bus in northern Germany.
Horrified witnesses described scenes of “carnage” on the bus in the city of Luebeck as the man dumped his bag on the ground and launched an attack with a kitchen knife.
A victim who had just offered his seat to an elderly woman was stabbed in the chest while the bus driver, who was also attacked, slammed the brakes on so terrified passengers could flee.
A police car which happened to be close by in the Kuecknitz district of the city was able to reach the scene quickly and the suspect was overpowered and arrested. According to local newspaper Luebecker Nachrichten, he is in his 30s and has claimed to be from Iran.
