After witnessing people being sprayed with an “unknown substance” as part of a suspected acid attack, a fast food worker has questioned why he bothered leaving Afghanistan to be more secure when the UK “is getting just as bad”.
Police and ambulance workers were called to a pizza vendor in Harlow, Essex, on Friday evening following reports that two teenagers had been sprayed in the face with an unknown substance after a verbal confrontation with two men.
While no one was seriously hurt in the attack outside Essex Pizza, the substance affected a number of people who were treated by paramedics at the scene, according to the Essex Chronicle.
3. Refugee policy general named next Australian defense chief
An Australian army general who led a secretive military operation to stop asylum seekers from coming to Australia by boat was named on Monday as the country's next defense force chief.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said Lt. Gen. Angus Campbell will replace Air Chief Marshall Mark Binskin as chief of the Australian Defense Force in July. Binskin will retire after four years in the top job.
Campbell came to public attention as the commander of Operation Sovereign Borders, an operation established by a newly elected conservative government in 2013 to stop thousands of asylum seekers from the Middle East, Africa and Asia from reaching Australian shores in rickety Indonesian fishing boats at a rate of 37 boats a month.

6. St. Catharines: Unlicensed Cab Driver Facing Sexual Assault Charge
A 39 year old man is facing charges after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in St. Catharines.
Police say an unlicensed cab picked up a woman in the St. Paul and Ontario Street area just before 1:00 yesterday morning.
The driver is accused of taking the woman to a parking lot in the area of Bunting Road and Welland Avenue where she was sexually assaulted.
Mahmoud Al Arag of St. Catharines is being held in custody pending a bail hearing today.

A LARGE explosion has been heard in the Israeli held area of Golan Heights near the Syrian border immediately after an airstrike hit several Syrian bases, it has been reported.
There have been reports of a significant explosion, according to local reports.
It comes immediately after Syrian state TV confirmed an airstrike hit had hit several bases.
Syria state television has confirmed its air defences are repelling attacks in the country’s Homs region.
The military announced at around 1.10am local time (11.10pm GMT) that it had fired missiles towards the Shay’rat Airbase, to the south-east of Homs, and its surrounding area in the Homs Governorate.
Several reporters in the area claim the airstrike was carried out by Israeli fighter jets flying at high altitude after crossing the borders through Lebanon.
There were also reports of covert airstrikes carried out by Israeli forces at Iranian bases in the Jabal Azzan region south of Aleppo last weekend.

NEW YORK, United States – Omar Vaid, a movie set technician based in Brooklyn, New York, would probably not be running for Congress in November’s mid-term elections were it not for President Donald Trump.
But Vaid, 36, the Muslim son of immigrants from India, was so alarmed by Trump’s ban on Muslim travellers and a spike in race-baiting that he is making a stand as a Democratic candidate in the city’s only Republican-held district later this year.
According to Emgage Action, a Muslim advocacy group and its connected political action committee (PAC), Vaid is part of a trend. As many as 100 Muslim Americans have committed to running in 2018 races – many more than in previous cycles.
“Muslim friends in my area told me about the hatred they faced in their neighbourhoods, with people yelling: ‘Go back to your own country,’ so I became passionate about this,” Vaid told Middle East Eye.
9. Antifa And The SPLC Successfully Shut Down Four Anti-Islam Conferences
Antifa groups used information from the Southern Poverty Law Center to successfully shut down four conferences on the threat of Islam scheduled in Wisconsin and Minnesota last weekend.
The hotels slated for the events were flooded with threatening calls, and the organizers voluntarily canceled one of the events following numerous warnings that it would not be safe. A fifth conference in Des Moines, Iowa carried on in defiance, despite leftists showing up to disrupt the proceedings.
The conferences were hosted by Worldview Weekend, a conservative Christian organization that produces radio and TV shows and sponsors events nationwide. The SPLC posted the locations for these venues, after which Antifa groups urged their members through social media to attend events and swamp the venues with threatening calls and messages.
