6. Turkey's Erdoğan warns of “crusader-crescent war” after Austria's shutting of mosques
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on June 9 criticized Austrian Prime Minister Sebastian Kurz for his government’s decision to shut down seven mosques and expel 40 imams, warning of a “crusader-crescent war.”
“I am afraid that the steps taken by the Austrian prime minister would bring the world closer to a crusader-crescent war,” said Erdoğan during an iftar fast-breaking meal organized in Istanbul.
He added that Turkey would also “respond” in due course to the decision to expel imams.
Erdoğan’s remarks were a response to the measures announced by Kurz on June 8 to expel several foreign-funded imams and shut seven mosques in a crackdown on “political Islam.”
Kurz said that the investigation on several mosques and associations conducted by the Ministry of Interior and Office of Religious Affairs had been concluded and that the activities of seven mosques were found to be forbidden, one of them belonging to the Turkish-Islamic Cultural Associations (ATIB).
7. Toronto: Man sought after woman held, beaten for two days: Cops
A man is wanted for allegedly holding a woman against her will for two days downtown.
Toronto Police say the unidentified woman was “forcibly confined, assaulted and threatened” between Monday and Tuesday in the Bathurst and Lake Shore Blvd. W. area.
Hussain Al-Naqeeb, 29, of Maple, is wanted for two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, forcible confinement, causing unnecessary suffering, mischief under $5,000, motor vehicle theft, and failing to comply with probation.
8. Sheikh Calls for “Eradication” of Israelis at Toronto al-Quds Day Rally
TORONTO – B'nai Brith Canada is in the process of filing a complaint with Toronto Police after a speaker at Saturday’s al-Quds Day rally in downtown Toronto called for the “eradication” of Israelis.
Sheikh Shafiq Huda of the Islamic Humanitarian Service in Kitchener, Ont., made the remarks as part of the annual hatefest dedicated to the destruction of Israel, inaugurated by Iranian dictator Ruhollah Khomeini in 1979.

9. Indian man “kills his four-year-old daughter to appease God then tells police that Satan made him slit her throat”
A father has admitted cutting his four-year-old daughter's throat as a sacrificial offering to God during Ramadan, Indian media have reported.
Nawab Ali Qureshi, 26, is said to have murdered young Rizwana on Friday after reciting verses from the Koran.
Police in Jodhpur said he initially denied killing his daughter and instead told his family a cat could have been responsible for her death.
“In the night I took her to the courtyard downstairs, recited a kalima, killed her, and then went back to sleep upstairs.”
He also reportedly said: “I had to offer my most prized possession to Allah.”
Qureshi said the devil had entered him, police explained.
Police said the man's wife, Shabana, found her daughter's lifeless body at about 3am after the killing.
10. IDF launches surprise exercise in Golan Heights amid lingering Iran tensions
The military kicked off a surprise exercise in the Golan Heights on Sunday, calling up reservists amid ongoing tensions over Iran’s presence in nearby Syria.
“A short while ago, a large-scale surprise military exercise began in the Golan Heights area,” the army said in a statement.
“In addition, as part of the exercise the system to call up reservists was activated,” the army said.
Additionally, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, released a video where he condemned the Iranian leadership, but offered the Iranian people technology for agriculture, and water purification to solve their current state of drought and semi-drought.
