1. Female Head of “Liberal” Berlin Mosque Under 24-Hour Police Guard After Multiple Death Threats
The female founder of a new ‘liberal’ mosque in Berlin has found herself under 24-hour police protection after receiving over a hundred death threats.
Female lawyer Seyran Ates is the founder of the liberal Ibn Ruschd-Goethe mosque, which was established earlier this year. Ms. Ates, a Kurdish Muslim born in Turkey, blames the Turkish government of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, saying Erdoğan supporters were behind the daily death threats, Kronen Zeitung reports.
Diyanet, the Turkish government’s religious authority, immediately slammed Ates and her mosque accusing the founders of being close to the Gulen movement who they blame for the attempted coup last summer.
The Rebel posted this video report on the mosque, which is actually inside a church, in June:

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has warned that Africa’s population explosion will overwhelm Europe unless the continent makes it more difficult for migrants to reach its shores.
The American billionaire’s comments come as European leaders discuss what to do about the surging number of Africans arriving in Italy each week, with Rome calling for other European Union (EU) nations to open their ports to docking migrants so as to ease pressure on the Mediterranean nation.
In an interview with the German Welt am Sonntag newspaper, Gates said massive population growth in Africa will result in “enormous [migratory] pressure” on Europe unless countries increase overseas development aid payments.

Austrian Defense Minister Hans Peter Doskozil told the Kronen Zeitung newspaper on Tuesday that the Austrian armed forces would be involved in a "support operation" to protect the country from the possible new migrant inflow.
The media outlet said that Austria had deployed armored vehicles close to the Brenner Pass as well as up to 750 servicemen who are expected to be deployed to guard the border against migrants.
In late June, Italy's authorities reportedly started considering that the country might be forced to shut its ports to foreign vessels, many of which disembark immigrants they pickup at sea. Italy's ambassador to the European Union, Maurizio Massari, described the situation as ‘unmanageable.’
