1. USA: Mankato man sentenced in 2016 rape
A Mankato man accused of raping an incapacitated young woman was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
Ashraf Alaaeldin Mohamed Elgamal, 24, of Mankato, was convicted Thursday of gross misdemeanor criminal sexual conduct. A felony count of the same charge was dropped in a plea deal.
Elgamal reportedly raped an extremely intoxicated woman in January 2016 in her Mankato apartment. The victim told police when she awoke and asked him to stop he called her a derogatory name and said ‘stop being selfish.’
2. Teenage girl found dead in fridge in "honour killing" in south London suburb
The suspected killer of a teenage girl whose body was found in a fridge was arrested in Dover as he tried to leave the country.
Detectives are today questioning two men in connection with suspected honour killing and the attempted murder of the victim’s cousin.
The terrified survivor, 21, banged frantically on doors of neighbouring homes before staggering to a nearby hospital with a slashed throat and multiple stab wounds.
She told medics she had been kidnapped with her 19-year-old cousin and driven to a detached property under renovation in a wealthy south London suburb.
3. Michigan female genital mutilation probe expands to Chicago, LA & NYC
A federal case against a Michigan physician who allegedly performed female genital mutilation procedures on 100 girls has expanded to individuals in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City as well as Minnesota, her attorney has revealed.
Dr. Jumana Nagarwala of Northville, Michigan, was arrested in April, along with Dr. Fakhruddin Attar and his wife, Dr. Farida Attar, owners of the Burhani Medical Clinic in Livonia, where the procedures are said to have been carried out. The Attars were released on bail last month. […]
The procedure is practiced by a small sect of Shia Muslims from India, the Dawoodi Bohra. […] it is done to suppress female sexuality in an attempt to reduce sexual pleasure and promiscuity.
If convicted, Nagarwala and Fakhruddin Attar face up to life in prison, while Farida Attar could be handed a 20 years jail term.
4. Sweden: Syrian Migrants Beat Man After Accusing Him of Being Homosexual

The attack is one of a number of recent violent attacks on homosexuals by migrants. In Germany earlier this week a Serbian gay asylum seeker couple was viciously beaten in the asylum home where they were living. One of the men was so badly injured that he had to be hospitalised.
Many migrants during the course of the migrant crisis have shown deep hostility to homosexuality. The problem has become so endemic that many gay rights campaigners advocate for separate asylum accommodation for homosexuals to prevent violent incidents from happening.
