Toronto Catholic School Board Trustee claims religious discrimination after Twitter campaign to keep her off Board of Health

Marissa SemkiwArchive

Toronto Catholic District School Board Trustee Angela Kennedy claims she is being discriminated against due to her religious views.

Kennedy was selected to serve on the Board of Health, but Councillor Joe Mihevc introduced a motion that substituted her name for that of a public school trustee.

Kennedy, who has worked in the health care sector for over 30 years, says she was rejected for the position because of her views on sex education, abortion, HPV vaccinations and gay straight alliances in schools.

Progressive bigots censor another dissenting voice. It’s how they operate.

It is quite amusing that 6 million Muslims convert to Christianity every year, in the heart of oppressive countries that seek to exterminate them because of their beliefs, yet they convert nonetheless, and regardless of potential consequences. Now here we have almost the same scenario in Toronto (supposedly a free and democratic country) to a lesser degree, but with the same intent: suppress Christianity/Catholicism, even if they are 1/3rd of the ones being educated in the city. Why is there not MSM screaming? We all know why.

If I were Prime Minister I would commission a statue of Ezra, Marissa and Brian. Finally, media personalities who speak for the rest (majority?) of us

The only logical explanation for barring Christians… exclusively Christians, from having a roll in shaping policy in the running of public institutions, is fear…. fear that they might be right, shattering their world view. I believe there are two main reasons biblical Christianity is thought of as intolerant by the progressives. The first reason is because among the tenets of Christianity is the concept of moral absolutes as evidence of true Christian conversion. These Christian concepts of moral behavior are not in step with the values embraced by a liberal view of western society and therefore are often perceived as a threat to the lifestyle of those who don’t choose to live their lives by Christian moral principles. The second and possibly more important reason is because Christianity claims to be exclusively and absolutely true, as does every other religion. This has serious ramifications. If accepted as truth, Christianity becomes a mirror, held up to reflect the soul of both the individual and that society, and they might not like what they see. However, those who accuse Christianity of intolerance fail to recognize the logical inconstancy in their own accusations. First of all, for any religion to be considered truly intolerant, among the doctrinal tenets of that religion would have to be the advocacy of exclusion from mainstream society for non-believers, or at the very least an attempt to publicly discredit them based on their religious disposition. Neither of these scenarios are doctrinal tenets of Christianity. Secondly, to take the position that Christianity is intolerant because of its moral foundations or its claims to exclusivity is itself an intolerant position and, therefore, also a very hypocritical position. When tolerance is valued at the expense of truth and a religious belief is rejected, not on the evidence, but simply because it claims to be exclusively true, then the necessity of valuing truth above tolerance becomes obvious.

Muzzle anyone with dissenting viewpoints – that seems to be happening all too frequently in Canada. I just wonder what will happen when the other Christians on the councils, on the boards, on the news media finally realize that they too will be silenced! This should be the concern of all faiths!

Brings us back to Marrisa’s interview yesterday with Rev. Dr. Joe Boot who spoke about the ongoing erosion of religious freedom. “What we are seeing in Canada is first of all a change in sovereign. A change of god concept basically. And when you see changes in the law taking place like this, what’s happening is you have changed god. What is being fleshed out in the law and the schools and in the public sphere right now is a reflection of that change of religion, at least among the governmental elite. And that new religion, (as Joe explained, cultural Marxism) is being forced on the people”. So here, a day later, is an example of the “governmental elite” forcing its religion on the people. Angela Kennedy opined that having the ability to join in the debate to present her views and contribute to the debate and decision making would be a good thing. Not for the “governmental elite” – Dissent is NOT allowed. Angela, asks, “What will a Board of Health be when everyone has the same opinion”? Fully aligned with what the “governmental elite” will allow.

The purpose of many of those who do not believe is to silence the Christian view point wherever and whenever possible. It is often done by dismissing any argument made by a Christian without bothering to debate it or by attacking the Christian verbally or in writing (thankfully not physically yet). That type of action from the non-Christian is actually an admission that the Christian has a valid point that they do not want to hear (though they would not admit such).

KEITH actually i was thinking that too when i watched the video,if she was a Muslim they wouldn’t have the nerve to turn her down, these days you can discriminate against almost anyone except a Muslim.
It seems to be open season on Christians , Catholics, Jews these days,it just boggles the mind the direction society is going, that little episode in BC that Ezra uncovered and fought their bigoted attitudes towards Christians was very telling about the way attitudes are going these days

Angela should have worn a head scarf and posed as a Muslim, then these low level low life petty little bureaucrats would have been bowing to her.

Get in line, Angela Kennedy, this sort of discrimination is becoming all too common.

Of course, there needs to be debate for the board of health to properly do its job. But like so many on the left, I bet those that did this will tell you the science is settled and Kennedy’s views must be wrong, as Christians are wrong about about everything scientific.

Good for Angela for taking her concerns to a tribunal for adjudication and, hopefully, public exposure through many, subsequent press releases.
