Last Saturday, a Calgary-based group called the World Coalition Against Islam planned to show up at Toronto City Hall to stage a protest on the anniversary of the deadly Charlottesville incident.
The timing was either an unfortunate coincidence or intentional but either way, it was a moot point because word quickly spread that dozens if not hundreds of counter-protestors would show up too.
WCAI sat this one out, but an Antifa mob showed up anyway and were left to vent their anger at members of law enforcement and some media. They came for a “love trumps hate” fight and they were going to have one!
Prior to WCAI’s planned protest, Mayor Tory was fretting over hate speech in the public square, saying:
“Hatred and acts of violence against any identifiable group have no place in this city.”
So where was Tory’s condemnation of the hate speech spewed by those who marched in the June Al Quds Day parade, the toxic hate-fest that has happened for several years now?
Antifa and their ilk chant, “Love trumps hate” yet routinely engage in acts of violence, believing it’s “OK” to punch a Nazi while defining Nazi as anyone who disagrees with them. They’re not, as the name implies, Anti-fascist, they’re merely fascist.
As for Mayor Tory, if you’re going to condemn hateful speech directed toward Muslims – which didn’t even happen, then you also need to condemn hateful speech directed toward Jews – which happens every June in the city during the Al Quds Day parade.
