Trade Wars, Tariffs and Tribunals: How one Alberta small business fought back and WON (Guest: Bo Vitanov)

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

Politicians all across the country are lining up to support Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in his self-induced trade war with the Americans.

All of a sudden, even the NDP claim to be free marketeers with a disdain for Trump’s retaliatory tariffs on steel and aluminum.

But what about the NDP’s own tariffs and protectionist measures here at home in Alberta?

The NDP are so in love with protectionism and tariffs that they keep dragging a small Alberta business before a trade tribunal in an attempt to keep a protectionist unconstitutional beer tax in place, even though they keep losing.

This is a wild story of bad socialist ideas, unintended consequences from unwarranted meddling and how the NDP tried to make the process of fighting back against them a punishment.

Joining me tonight to discuss their latest David and Goliath victory against the NDP and the damage that poorly thought out protectionist policies can have on small businesses, is Bo Vitanov of Calgary’s Artisan Ales.

- Trump has since imposed a 250% tariff on false eyebrows. Prime Minister Soy Boy stumbles into a trade war because of his pathetic need to pander to his fellow globalists & then goes on vacation …. again. Trump met privately with Trudeau & gave him a concession related to NAFTA renewal & as soon as he was on his way to the North Korea summit Trudeau goes on TV & starts trash talking him.

- Good for Artisan Ales. The NDP don’t follow their own rules & guidelines. The clock is ticking on this NDP goat rodeo.

325 days and counting for Notley and her Socialist ideology and mostly clueless MLA’s to be ousted.
Best news I heard was yesterday when the Government of Ab was advertising for enumerators in preparation for the pending Ab election.

Trump referred to Trudeau as being dishonest.

I suspect Trudeau said something to Trump; then at first chance grabbed a microphone and said something considerably different. When has that happened before? Therefore Trump was pissed.

For 3 years we have had countless examples of Trudeau telling lies and untruths. The Conservatives and ND’s remind us of these lies almost daily. But now they’ve decided Trumps bullying the PM.

Trudeau is a liar. I would not believe his side of this incident until getting ALL the facts.

Can’t wait for Notley to get kicked to the curb.

It is disturbing how four years of crap government can beat the province bloody. It will take a Conservative government at least two terms to even-keel the province, and another two terms to get the province back into the financial lucidity.

Sheila, I really appreciate your interview ‘style’. You ask a question and listen attentively to the answer and then ask another intelligent question. And I’m really glad you followed up on this issue. I found it very captivating when first you reported on this and I am gratified to hear the outcome. I suspect it will fall to the next UCP government to make this right however. Bo Vitanov is an excellent spokesperson. I hope to hear more from her in the future. I think she should consider politics. She is a ‘clear thinker’. :-)

This NDP tax on beer illustrates how clueless many Alberta voters are. Vote for idiots … get idiiodic policy. So bend over, pay your beer tax, see your income taxes pay the millions in legal fees and increased bureaucracy, wait for trade reciprocity and call it a day.
And find an economist, a barley producer or agrologist who will opine that this NDP policy is good for anyone. Joe will tell you … but who is he?

I’m glad this beer tax thing came up. People need to have things hit them personally before they react. Let’s hope the NDP raise prices on all sorts of harmless things so voters will see how churlish they are. Let’s hope the voters also realize that command economies don’t work. We should be free to buy whatever we want, barring harmful stuff of course, and the government should keep their grubby social-engineering hands off!

Trudeau blocked the eastern pipeline on orders from Quebec on Alberta and Saskatchewan, and the traitors Scheer, Notley and Kenny run to lick their A holes to protect Quebec dairy farmers. Maclean’s is right, it’s not a country, it’s fantasy land hell hole for Albertan,s.
