Donald Trump just banned transgender people from serving in the American military In a series of tweets, the President explained that:
"Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”
There are reasons to agree or disagree with the ban, and those will be shouted in everyone's face from over the coming days and weeks.
What I want to show you is the response of the Canadian Armed Forces to the transgender ban on Twitter.
The Armed Forces official Twitter account sent a tweet with what looks like the Navy band at a Pride parade and attached the words:
“We welcome Cdns of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Join us! #DiversityIsOurStrength #ForcesJobs”
They’re the Armed Forces. Diversity is not their strength. Overwhelming deadly force is.
The ability to kill the enemy better than they can kill you is your strength, not some wishy washy Liberal sentiment that actually means little to nothing. We’ve come along way from when our grandpas checked individuality at the door to become the cohesive war machine that defeated the Nazi’s in Europe
And that CF tweet sounds pretty similar to Trudeau's famous “welcome to Canada” tweet that he sent when Trump passed his original travel ban.
The communications interns at the Canadian Forces are just following the lead of the Prime Minister and using the same childish tone Trudeau set from the entire public service.
Last week Liberals deployed themselves to social media to declare that CPC MP Michelle Rempel not parroting Liberal talking points about Khadr during her appearance on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show would somehow derail NAFTA negotiations.
Those same Liberal MPs are noticeably silent about the impact our allegedly apolitical Canadian Forces communications team trolling our allies may have on our relationship with them.
