The Trudeau Liberals promised openness and transparency upon taking office in 2015, yet whenever we make Access to Information requests, we eventually receive heavily redacted documents based on alleged security or privacy concerns.
But, why the cone-of-silence treatment on our latest request asking what periodicals Justin was subscribing to?
After all, back in 2001 when he was a snowboarder or a part-time drama teacher or something like that, he was asked by the National Post how he kept up to date on current affairs, and his response was to say, “I don’t read newspapers. I don’t watch the news. I figure, if something important happens, someone will tell me.”
So we were curious what source material Justin was using to enrich his mind since snagging the PM gig.
We asked:
“For the period between Jan. 1, 2017 and Apr. 1, 2018, I would like to see all records of subscriptions to all newspapers, magazines or other publications for 24 Sussex, Rideau Cottage and the Prime Minister’s residence at Harrington Lake.”
Amazingly, all the names of those various magazines were … censored! How can a subscription to a magazine be a matter of national security?
It remains a mystery what sort of periodicals Justin is subscribing to, but I have a few guesses based on what’s available at the newsstand and what we know about Trudeau.
Anyway, dear viewers, at this point I ask you to weigh-in: What is Justin Trudeau’s favourite magazine?
Is it Chatelaine, Tiger Beat, or DiversityCan? Or, do you have your own theory about what Justin’s reading to enrich his beautiful mind?
Please feel free to offer feedback in the Comments section. I can’t wait!
