At a press freedom event at the Paris Peace Forum over the weekend, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau touted his support for media before an international audience, but does Trudeau really mean it when he says “attacks on the media are threats to democracy”?
Today I'm taking a look at the treatment of the press by Trudeau and his Liberals, both past and present.
The list is long, and not particularly good.
There’s the Kokanee grope, the time Trudeau attacked an independent media outlet by name in the House of Commons, and the time Bill Morneau spoke at an event where the Chinese government censored the media.
If this is what the Trudeau Liberals support for the media looks like, I'd hate to see what their lack of support would look like!
