Trudeau can't win a trade war with Trump

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On last night's show, retired lawyer Manny Montenegrino joined me to discuss the emerging trade war between Donald Trump and Justin Trudeau.

When Trump threatened to impose tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum in retaliation to supply management in the Canadian dairy sector, Trudeau refused to budge.

Canadians, including conservative politicians, are rallying behind Trudeau and the Quebec dairy cartels. But is that really in Canada's interest?

WATCH my interview with Manny to see how Trudeau is putting politics before our national interests, and why Canada cannot win this trade war.

Start the count down to the end of Confederation. End of Free Trade coupled with the effects of an onerous tax on everything know as Carbon Tax. Federal revenue is going to drop like a stone. The Federal welfare for provinces will collapse. The only questions in the years following are how long before the West succeeds and whether Ontario want to down with the confederation or go with a
free market western Canada. Is it any coincidence that almost all the protected industries are centred for the most part east of Ontario. Industries most headquartered in Toronto and Montreal. Is it any coincidence that one province accounts for more than half of the Federal subsidies for business. Baby Doc Trudeau is playing to his base, the Ontario civil service urban elites in the 416 Metro Toronto, Ottawa inside the Greenbelt with all the takers in Quebec and Atlantic Canada. And these clowns that voted for him and his brand of social justice (suicide) don’t understand that 38% of our GDP generated from exports to the U.S. For the Yanks exports to Canada account for 6% of their GDP. As Dr. Lee pointed out, in a trade war we will me crushed. Delicious is the irony that Mr.Trump is about to deliver on Jean Crouton’s Red Book promise and scrap free trade. P.S. Where is Andrew Shill, oh kicking out of shadow cabinet one Maxime Bernier, the only MP in the Commons who seems to get what is actually in play economically for all Canadians. Dr. Lee points to Harpo, Mulgoon, Crouton etc as possible saviors. But they are all part of the same political class that gave use Free trade Canadian style. That it is only for the middlemen, and not the masses. Sorry Dr. Lee, you’re a great economist, but I don’t hold out much hope of any them making things better for average people. Subsidies and quotas that increased prices got worse. Apart from the end of the Wheat Board, nothing changed. They didn’t anything when they were power. They couldn’t even get free trade inside Canada. Now that being said everyone go back to being a good Canadian peasant by paying more for everything (telecommunications, food, gas, financial services) and accept less choice because we as Ezra call them “The Fancy People” say it is so.
P.S. To all who think we have free trade, why am I as a consumer forced to pay for TV channels I don’t want in the name of Canadian culture. Why can’t I buy what I want from the US (Net Flix) or why I can’t I watch or read what I want tariff free in this supposed free country. Oh wait we have to protect all the urbanites in the cultural welfare industry, especially Rogers You in Toronto and Hell Teleglobe Media in Montreal and Hellus and PShaw in Vancouver. Producing heavily subsidized magazines, t.v. and movies nobody wants. Why do Canadian Banks through their U.S. operations sell their American customers loans along with 25 and 30 year fixed rate mortgages at lower rates than their Canadian customers. And yet American banks and insurance companies are barred from sell those products directly to Canadians. A barrier that to limits competition is as bad as tariff for Canadian consumers.
Doesn’t exactly sound fair or free trade does it. When did paying too much and having less choice become the definition of being a Canadian Patriot?

Trudeau senior was standing shoulder to shoulder with our soldiers and the yanks during WWII. He was known to drive his motorcycle down the streets of Montreal wearing agerman helmet.
Fidelito Trudeau is cut from the same cloth . . . that of a traitor!

“I highlighted directly to the president that Canadians did not take it lightly, the United States’ move forward with significant tariffs on our steel and aluminum industry,” began Trudeau. “[I] particularly did not take lightly the fact that it’s based on national security reason that for Canadians who either themselves or whose parents or community members have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with American soldiers in far off lands, in conflicts from the First World War onwards, that it’s kind of insulting.”

Did trudeau find it kind of insulting when trudeau he himself slimed and awarded the 10.5 million dollars to the individual that killed a US Medic and maimed another US personnel Ally?

The victim’s Family’s got shafted from trudeau and goodale correct?

Now he talks about “shoulder to shoulder with American Soldiers in far off lands”

Interesting and informative take on the trade war by Montenegrino. He brought up some points that I hadn’t fully thought through yet, and backed up his position with examples and facts from both now, and from history as it applies to trade.

But, to be fair, I must expound on the flip side and present my thoughts as to why some of the things Trudeau is doing will be good and lead to acceptable outcomes for Canada, and why I think so many in Canada including conservatives are rallying behind him. To begin with there is the fact that -

Wait, hush with your objections, I’m thinking…

Yeah, no. Sorry Canada. I got nothin’. You’re screwed.

I suggest North Venezuela for your new post-national name.

Manny explains it exactly the way it is. What is wrong with A. Scheer?? He seems dumber than J.Trudeau if that’s possible.

Trudeau’s, after Trump Press conference, will cost Canadians a lot of money and all because our resident cry baby is an idiot with kinky eyebrows. When Trudeau sees what Trump will do with the Canadian auto industry he will go into his crying mode.
Trudeau needs to look into a mirror and see what an idiot he really is.

Its crazy, and all the ill/un and mis informed sheeple, are lining up behind him saying ‘yeah, get Trump!’. This stance is not only infantile and humiliating for Canada , but we will all pay a very big price. What isn’t Justin doing to destroy his own country, let me count the ways………

These fools could care less about the Canadian economy or the impact that anything detrimental to our economy would have on the residents of this country.
They are grandstanding to make themselves look like good little feminists and eco warriors.
The citizens be damned, they can eat cake.
Is that not what Marie Antoinette said before she lost her head?
Our supreme leader, Fidelito Trudeau wants to tweak Trump’s nose but, Trump is holding all the aces.
