Trudeau: "I certainly want to see more [heroin] injection sites opened around the country"

Marissa SemkiwArchive

At a speech at the University of British Columbia last month, Justin Trudeau, when asked, said he didn't want to legalize hard drugs. But something else he said caught my attention:

“I think there’s much we can and should be doing around harm reduction, Insite’s a great model of that and I certainly want to see more safe injection sites opened around the country.”

Insite, if you’re unfamiliar, is a heroin injection site in Vancouver; a taxpayer funded facility that let's junkies shoot up in their building. A site that gives addicts a green light to inject illegal drugs and flout the law.

Trudeau says he wants more of these opened around the country - Insite franchises, if you will.

And why not? In September 2011, Canada’s activist Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, ruled that closing the facility would violate the rights of addicts. That's right: According to the Supreme Court, injecting illegal heroin is a right under Pierre Trudeau's Charter.

So could one of these heroin shooting sites end up in your community? In your neighbourhood? Near your home? Near your kids school or daycare? Your church? It's not impossible.

And if you don't think it's a slippery slope, remember his position on providing free prescription grade heroin to addicts?

Of course there’s money to be made – they have developed a well-oiled “Poverty Industry” in our DownTown Eastside to maintain a permanent constituency of dependence. This is no laughing matter, and all this on the backs of the most vulnerable (many of the current addicts are past patients of our now closed mental institutions – previously they only had mental problems – now they have both mental problems and addiction problems). The NDP are part of the problem: http://www.genuinewitty.com/2015/01/26/multi-million-dollar-homeowner-announces-mp-candidacy-in-vancouvers-poorest-riding-feat-jenny-kwan/
and here is a link showing the connections between the politicians and the “Poverty Industry”: http://www.genuinewitty.com/2015/01/26/multi-million-dollar-homeowner-announces-mp-candidacy-in-vancouvers-poorest-riding-feat-jenny-kwan/
Let me share a piece of history (not to blame or point fingers but it happened): Imperial China had a lot to offer the world but would only trade in Gold (not in other goods) so after trying to trade all other material goods which were not acceptable, they brought in Opium – when the
Communists came in – there was nobody left to fight it. There was a huge addiction problem in China. If you notice, drug addicts are extremely pliable and not exactly prone to reason well. Some made it out to Taiwan, HongKong and other places but most Chinese suffered terribly for many many years. Don’t let it happen in your City or Town. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing” – and while we’re at it, when are we going to have ELECTED supreme court judges ?

There must be money to be made for the Liberals if Just-need-a-fix wants more safe injection sites, and, ALSO, to provide junkies with “clean” heroin! Same as with the “medical marijuana”. Research the many Liberals that are becoming billionaires because they got “off on the ground floor” in the medical marijuana grow-ops!
And just last night all the mainstream media were bashing the Harper government for not removing menthol from cigarettes because it encourages young people to smoke more! What a crazy, mixed-up world in which we are living!

I worked with needle exchange teams at public health so I know how the lobby thinks. These big drug organizations are very wealthy. They intimidate and bribe officials, doctors, judges, and they tell citizens concerned about safety and real estate values that if they don’t like it, they should move. It’s an organized form of cleansing, the first wave to even worse types of cleansing. A form of stealth jihad. Foreign terrorist organizations do business with street gangs in all our communities. Just because you may know Johnny the local street thug’s mother belongs to your church doesn’t mean Johnny isn’t paid by terrorists to try to sell your children drugs. Organized crime is globalized and our law increasingly meaningless in the face of what official compliance drug money can buy.

Well put, Marissa, “There is nothing safe about injecting yourself with heroin”.
Logic the left does not (want to) understand.

Let me get this right. Is it not illegal to purchase these so called hard drugs in this country? Therefore illegal to possess these drugs. If allowing a person to use these drugs in a safe and government own site, in fact breaking their own law by aiding and abetting the use of these illegal drugs? How could there actually be a charter challenge that gives these criminals the right to break the law!? I am sorry but my brain hurts trying to figure out what these supreme court judges are doing here. Are they not there to uphold the laws? How can they convict anyone in the future of breaking the laws in this instance when this same judges and governments at large are breaking the law they want the rest of us to live by!!!!!!??? I’m sorry but I’m afraid that we just moved into the Twilight Zone!!!!!!!

I know Justin defers to them on everything, but we have to do something about the power of the supreme courts!

The problem is not just that insite costs taxpayers to run them. The biggest part of the problem is the organized crime that sells the drugs. The drugs are just the soft front of their crime. They also sell arms and trade in sex, child porn, and politics.

Organized crime groups make a deal with insite and are protected from prosecution by our government because they provide the source of drugs for the addicts. So our government is doing business with pro-jihad Mexican/Peruvian/Afghani terrorists with immunity from prosecution. No bargains, though, no discounts on drugs for the broken-down and disabled addicts. Oh no, they pay full price and so they break into your homes and steal from you. They do home invasions. They run neighbourhood protection and extortion scams for organized crime. They pimp and they corrupt and they intimidate. They drive down propery values and cleanse the neighbourhood of all who resist. They then own the neighbourhood and you better do what they say or they burn down your place. Rape your children. Maybe not too long from now, even behead you. Certainly, shoot you.

Make no mistake. The organized crime groups aren’t owned by your average college student dealer. They are mob and cartel and terrorists with interests in overthrowing democracy and establishing terrorist-enforced tyranny. They have no interest whatsoever in helping addicts. They just want to control and terrorize neighbourhoods. To take away our freedom, one community at a time.

Coming soon to your neighbourhood if Trudeau gets his way.

Reasonable conservative, what if , say I was a kleptomaniac and the government gave me,say a pin to wear indicating so, and all the stores had to let me steal and the big government had to reimburse the stores would you find that absurd? Of course, we the people are put on this planet to help one another not to enable each other’s sicknesses . There are many different ways to combat drug abusers than this way. This is laziness and has no bearing what so ever to solve the problem. I have no problem paying taxes to HELP PEOPLE

He’s gone after the Islamic vote, the marijuana vote, the Green vote and now he wants the hard drug user vote. Aye Caramba!

Reasonable Conservative, your post does not make sense. Bigger government IS having safe injection sites. The Conservatives do NOT want safe injection sites, thus they want smaller government.

You stated, "people are going to do heroin whether you like it or not, whether it is illegal or not. They can inject heroin in a safe / clean environment with access to rehab and public health nurses, or they can shoot up in the alley behind your place of work. "

So yours and the progressives/left wingers opinion is to take away the consequences of doing drugs so that there is no incentive to get off of the drugs. The problem with this approach is that when injecting drugs is made as safe as possible, then the detriment for doing those drugs is severely lessened and so it follows that the consequences that motivate the person to get out of the damaging habit will also be removed. Isn’t the whole idea to get people off of drugs?

When I visited Vancouver last year, I was in a vehicle driving along Hastings Street. What a depressing site that was…zombie pedestrians walking around crowded sidewalks. The Payolas captured the scene back in the early 1980s:

The whole concept of “safe injection sites” is lunacy, it’s idiotic and anti-civilization! And, oh yeah, that guy who calls himself “reasonable conservative” is just plain weird! You may have the right to poke yourself in the eye with a sharp stick, but if you do it deliberately, I’ll be damned if I’m paying your medical bills!

“it’s like the opposition will support anything the conservatives are against…”

And the oppose anything the Conservative support, all in an effort to make themselves the exact opposite of the Conservatives.

Excellent commentary, Marissa!

Fair enough, Jr. Oh, just one teensy condition to this concept — you leave my taxes alone. You want these sites? YOU fund ’em!
commented 2015-04-09 18:39:08 -0400
Yeah…spend more money and help addicts to stay that way…I have seen the ease with which alcoholics SINCE they were put on DISABILITY income here have been enabled to drink every day getting enough TAXPAYERS’ money to remain at home syphoning alcohol into their bodies continually…of course they don’t give them enough of our money for food, just enough for rent and booze…oh and cigarettes…ILLEGAL ones…before this they had to work a few days a week and had to sober up a few days/week…but now they just drink themselves to death…every day…searching the bins for empty bottles to take back to ‘pay’ for the next fix…and picking up cigarette stubs to re-roll…or worse to just re-light!

Why not more places for REHAB instead and help with family intervention!

Personal choices have personal consequences, my tax dollars should not be used for these sites. All should have equal rights under the law but when it comes to illegal drugs then the right of a law abiding citizen should trump that of a junky. The more tax money that is used for these sites the less tax dollars will go towards health and education. A patient has to pay for their own medical marijuana but yet a heroin junky may get his for free, these liberals need to go away for awhile so the rest of the sane people can get everything back in order. Governments need to go back to the basics and leave the people alone.
commented 2015-04-09 18:03:49 -0400
I would have thought this was an April Fool’s joke but for the date. Typical Liberal; let’s divide and conquer everyone, redistribute their money, then drug them so we can do whatever we want uncontested.
Reasonable Conservative – So instead of rehabilitating them, let’s just give up on them and keep shooting them up. Please excuse me if I fail to see the sagacity of that.
commented 2015-04-09 17:21:43 -0400
You’d think a Social Conservative would want less government intrusion into the lives of everyday Canadians, but no, they want more. They want more big government telling adults what they can and cannot put into their own bodies.

Listen folks, people are going to do heroin whether you like it or not, whether it is illegal or not. They can inject heroin in a safe / clean environment with access to rehab and public health nurses, or they can shoot up in the alley behind your place of work.

I’m for less government and I’ll never understand my Socially Conservative allies and their insistence that big government is better.
