Minister of Public Safety Ralph Goodale was in Regina last week trying to sell the federal carbon tax as the key that unlocks the door for getting pipelines built.
Of course, he didn’t mention that the Notley NDP’s experiment with a carbon tax in Alberta is slamming doors on important investments and causing an oil and gas company exodus from the province.
Numerous companies have already left Alberta and it seems there’s no end in sight as companies continue to flee.
The Liberals love to say a carbon tax is like a magical pass to get pipelines built, even though not one has been approved as a result of a province putting a carbon plan in place.
They word police to ensure use of the term “pricing” and label anyone that opposes the tax a laggard, or a climate change denier to demonize those who dissent and try to shame them into agreement, but it’s really just a tax and a divisive political tool to campaign on in the next election.
Minister of Environment and Climate Change Catherine McKenna will be making her rounds in Saskatchewan to try to peddle the carbon tax this week following Goodale’s comments.
Which has me wondering, has anyone done an emissions calculation on the flights and globetrotting the Liberals are undertaking to sell this tax?
They’d never look to their own hypocrisy though - they’ll just keep blaming everyone else.
