Trudeau's “delusional” carbon tax isn't revenue neutral

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, guest host David Menzies and Catherine Swift from Working Canadians discussed the effectiveness of Justin Trudeau's supposedly "revenue neutral" carbon tax.

Trudeau's plan is a failure for two reasons:

It isn't revenue neutral, and it won't save the environment.

The Liberals know the tax will render Canadian industry uncompetitive, so they've created a bunch of exemptions that apply to some of Canada's largest polluters.

They also can't guarantee that all revenue collected will be sent back to taxpayers.

WATCH our video to see why Catherine thinks anybody who believes in Trudeau's carbon tax is "delusional."

Alberta suffers under a $30 per tonne carbon tax. A natural gas billing received during the
summer had me contacting the Alberta government and the provider. The government provided nothing in the way of explanation but the provider did. The figure amounts are relevant only in the clarity they provided on how carbon tax is charged:
- 1.03 GJ natural gas used – cost 56 cents
- carbon tax on the 56 cents of consumed natural gas was $1.56
- GST charged on the 56 cents consumed gas and $1.56 carbon tax was 11 cents
– using 56 cents worth of natural gas cost an additional $1.68 in carbon tax and GST
- total billing for 56 cents of natural gas used was $55.49
As explained by the provider, when natural gas usage increases in winter I can expect to pay a minimum (the cost of natural gas increases during the winter) of an additional $1.56 per GJ on top of the actual cost of each GJ consumed, GST on the carbon tax, as well as the admin fees, rate rider fees, fixed delivery fees, variable delivery fees and municipal franchise fees and the GST on these fees
Carbon taxes have most definitely increased the cost of groceries substantially as well as every other item transported into Alberta as carbon taxes are passed on to the consumer. The Trudeau regime keeps every penny of GST charged on the carbon tax and have raked in hundreds of millions off the backs of Canadians to fund their ideologies. The NDP Alberta government rebate plan is a joke, the NDP dole out rebate pennies and keep the bulk for their socialist agendas.
The carbon tax and the GST tax on a tax is a Liberal regime tax grab, period. The current dictatorial regime needs to be shown the door in 2019.

We could straight-jacket the left by bringing about an insistence that politicians do their homework. All their bad policies are based on wishful ideology. If they were obligated to resent their homework, they’d have nothing – I mean nothing. They’d be forced to dissolve!

Simplify and Downplay – Always!! That tactic is required to trick the less astute citizen.

And of course, we know the left suffers from backwards-brain, as they simplify complicated things and complicate simple things!

Delusional is the typical thought process of of a Leftist Pot Head – seems Trudeau meets all the touch points.

This IS the new Trudeau tax. He has named it in honour of his friend, Ben. It is now for all intents and purposes, for the Canadian people, called the Ben Dover tax.

We here in Manitoba could use some of those stop the carbon tax lawn signs.

The only reason why I voted for Pallister was because I thought he would be the best bet against the carbon tax. Good to see him fight the stupid two tiered pricing.
