Justin Trudeau seems to have had a change of heart and decided to make an appearance at the Calgary Stampede after all.
Initially, his office cited scheduling conflicts to explain why he wouldn’t attend this year, but then it was revealed that what was actually on his schedule were three personal days in a row as well as some private meetings.
That seemed to affirm much of the speculation floating around that he was too scared to come because he forgot to mention Alberta in his Canada Day speech.
But even he knew it was bad form not to visit the city’s biggest event of the year, the Stampede, especially at a time when Calgary is struggling with the highest unemployment numbers in the country. The oil and gas sector is struggling but his visit seemed meticulously planned so Justin only visited Liberal safe spaces, thus avoiding running into fed up Albertans.
His itinerary was full of photo ops in friendly territory but despite the carefully planned PR visit, he still couldn’t escape scrutiny.
Watch as I show you some of what Trudeau encountered that you likely won’t see in the compliant media.
The visit was crafted to give the impression to the rest of the country and the world, that Trudeau is well liked in Alberta.
But he didn’t come to support the economic engine of the country that’s suffering primarily due to three levels of incompetent government. He came here for Justin Trudeau.
But I was there and heard the frustrated Calgarian yelling over the band even if Trudeau didn’t. And now you have too.
