Trudeau’s high level staff “make out like bandits” while middle class get hosed

Brian LilleyArchive

Justin Trudeau tells us all the time that he’s all about helping the middle class but if that’s true, why did he think it was okay to hand over $1.1M of taxpayer money to high level, highly paid political staffers to move to Ottawa?

It’s not as if this figure was the result of a large number of staff paying for U-Hauls all across the country.

The excessive expenses Trudeau signed off on were related to the costs incurred by a few of those staffers to sell their homes but did they really need the help of the middle class to do that? Katie Telford made almost $500K selling her home and Gerald Butts sold his home for $630K more than he originally paid for it.

The defence has been these rules were put in place by the Conservatives but sources say Harper wouldn’t pay more than $30,000 for costs related to relocation. Some may find even that amount excessive but it pales in comparison to the numbers that have just been revealed for Trudeau’s staff.

Watch as I put those shocking figures in perspective in a way the average person of average means can relate to.

And remember this next time Justin is talking about how much he cares about the middle class.

Shame on them all!!

The National Joint Council of Public Service Canada has a multi-page directive which clearly states the detailed policy on Relocation Allowances. Arguably, the biggest allowable expense is real estate fees. There are two funds to which the employee may apply for reimbursement of these fees, the Core Fund with a maximum of $15,000 and the Customized Fund where there is an additional maximum $5,250. So the total maximum is $20,250 for this component regardless of the fact that Mr Butts apparently sold his house for about $1 million. The Privy Council Office released figures for expenses claimed over the past THIRTEEN years ( including 2015 – 2016 ) involving 29 PMO staffers. The total was $545,364, for an $18,006 AVERAGE EXPENSE per person. Mr Butts is so far out of line that an investigation into fraud should be immediately started by the RCMP. If Mr Trudeau signed off on this then perhaps it is he that should be contributing to the cost of recovery of the taxpayer’s money or, at the least, shamed for having been so careless in doing so.

I like to use the analogy of a liberal bank robber running out of the bank with duffle bag’s ( hey a cute nickname for Duffy) loaded with cash who when being confronted by a police officer yells and points at the low level clerk trying to palm a $20 bill from the crime scene fall out.

@al Peterson I misread your comment. I thought you said you were filling in for Jay’s absess.

Justin winning a majority is irrefutable testimony that the majority of voters are too stupid to have such responsibility. However, we do live in a democracy and that explains it all. Regardless of what the winner does, the majority rules. So once again, Canada loses. Having a free trade agreement with China only costs Canadians skilled jobs. Those who voted in Justin are generally no more than sales clerks, or at least like minded, so they are happy to have more minimum wage employment. I say if Canada wants to help the left wing they should make it mandatory for all to learn Punjabi or Mandarin dialects. That way, when they are told where to sweep, they will know what their boss wants them to do. We can call it left wing job security.

They got caught and are now paying some back – if they had not been caught they would not have fessed up.

Oh the life of the entitled……….

LIEberals = evil as islam

I guess they learned about paying back from that low life Mike Duffy who bilked the taxpayers and went to court over it. Of course since these are Liberals there will be no court appearances. They have bought the courts, heart, soul and mind.

Let me fill in for Jay in his absence.

“Well of course this is just more Victor Laszlo-like made up nonsense from the Rebel. Justin promised he would look out for the middle class so obviously he is. Try to find some real news somewhere, please. Rebel readers should never question our beloved leader. We need to ask. is it upbringing or is it hatred? These are things that Rebel readers need to look to the UN for. The UN will tell us our stories as they see fit for our benefit and that of the entire world. "

Gee, wonder why the CBC and MSM is not outraged over this as they would have been if it had been a Harper Gov’t? Oh, wait, I forgot, they’re in love with Liebranos and Justin bin EL BOW!
Hope the brain dead 39% that voted for these thieves are happy!

Mashed potatoes and kicked Butts are in store – I’s coming and it will surprise the insulated idle class Liberals how fast it will happen.

Thanks Kevin..
I can’t understand why a ground movement hasn’t started either…
In fact I can’t get over the fact that the subjects (crybabies) on this post are content to be the voice of discontent… and no more..!!! Are you in the Lethbridge area.?
I visit Lethbridge frequently as I have a reason to do so….
Please feel free to contact me at the email address I provided below and if there’s any people that you know that feel the same way maybe we can get something started.
It has got to start somewhere or it will go nowhere.

I used to have a job
An’ I was doin’ very well
Election came along
An’ everybody start to yell
’where’d they go, them good ol’ days,
‘an all the stuff we used to sell? ’
Now I’m in hot-plate heaven,
At the broke hotel

Conservatives is fine,
If you’re a multi-millionaire
Liberals is fair,
If all you own is what you wear
Neither of ’em’s really right,
‘cause neither of ’em care
’bout that hot-plate heaven,
’cause they ain’t been there

Nature didn’t put me here
An’ neither did my fate —
I musta been some even ol’
Liberal candidate!
He’s over here in Ottawa,
But I wish he was in hell
‘cause I’m in hot-plate heaven
At the broke hotel

- My deep apologies to the late Francis Vincent Zappa, couldn’t resist Frank, the situation was too déjà vu

I like how the Butt has his hands wrapped around his fat gut smiling. Obviously, happy the common labourer paid for his five course meal. Like the scene in the Simms version of Christmas Carol where the fat cat slaps his gut and declares he must be fed or will not attend. Actually, I would prefer that he is closer to the glutton in Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life; he must be at that point a little wafer will do him in.

Thank you Ontario and Maritimes for putting these gluttons back.

Thanks Lev.2013. I like what you are proposing in your other posts. You would think by now there would be a ground swell of opposition to these commies, but like in my case I can barely put gas in my truck to go anywhere to protest and I think that there is a lot more in the same boat. One thing I am going to do is cut firewood and sell it in front of environment minister Shannon Phillips riding office in Lethbridge. The sign will read BEAT THE CARBON TAX ,FIREWOOD FORSALE $10 a bundle. I’ll post a picture in the rebel comments section when I get set up!!

Guess Mr. Butts realized the optics were not good all the while his boss was his smug, condescending way…in Question Period. Wonder who told who paying back was better than defending? Mr. Butts’ move cost 3 ‘middle class Canadians and those wishing to join the middle class’ 3 years salary each.

Hey Kevin… I understand your feelings and believe me I do because I watch my own freedoms get stripped away daily along with my middle class status but however peaceful revolution through civil disobedience may be all that is required to end this foolishness.
commented 2016-09-22 18:02:06 -0400
I used to be middle class, but these last 2 years I’m now at or below the poverty line and to add more insult to myself and family, we are most likely only 1month of carbon taxes away from being homeless. So with desperation setting in by the day, what the hell is there to lose. Nothing more dangerous that old vet with a firearm. There soon will be no middle class in this forsaken country. Thanks for the fuck over Canada, you special polite people you.

Anybody in Alberta want to sit down in person and figure out how to do this and then get a movement rolling..?? If so contact me at the above email address. We have no choice but to start small and grow this voice of discontent that just may echo through the halls of parliament and end the environment they have created for themselves with our sacrifices of blood sweat and tears.

PS… Fraser I like your post.

Sorry, the Rebel is wrong on this one and missing the more important point. Moving expenses are a legitimate reimbursement expense that are provided to executives and some others (who negotiate them in advance) due to relocation. The reimbursement includes the real estate commission on a house sale that many are having a problem with calling it double dipping. The real estate fees are also an allowable tax deductible expense for those moving closer to work (certain number of km closer). The real focus of this issue should be a clear policy on what level of positions within government are eligible for reimbursement and limits should be set with the amount that is acceptable. Individuals can then decide whether they want to accept the job or not.
As usual (same as the Senate fiasco and nannygate) the real issue is the total lack of enforceable policies and procedures by our governments that everyone understands and follows. The lack of such policies and procedures just result in more pork barreling at public expense. I am guessing that the free for all in the Senate continues with the only check and balance being bad publicity. When will Government learn and start exercising fiscal responsibility and using management 101 principles

But the thing is that they do not own cars, live in small apartments, only fly on business (and only in economy) and to further reduce their carbon footprint had workers carry their stuff from Toronto to Ottawa, which is a long walk. I know this because I am sure that they could not be Climate Change Hypocrites. Could they?
