Despite Trudeau’s efforts in the Medicine Hat by-election where he proclaimed he would return Liberal fortunes in this bastion of conservatism, the Conservatives won the by-election in even larger numbers than they took the riding last time.
The Liberals got crushed taking just 25% of the total vote.
While the turnout was low as is normal in by-elections, Conservative Glen Motz took 69.85% of that vote which is higher than the 68.8% taken by the previous CPC MP, Jim Hillyer.
It’s good to see that some Canadians remain immune from the good looks, the hair and the charm, though it seems in most parts of the country, the honeymoon is still on.
But this Liberal loss and some frosty feelings directed at Trudeau from the labour movement may be the cracks in the armour that are starting to show as more Canadians realize Sunny Ways aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.
